Activities Lost after Official Support's Advice on Account, Cannot Sync Again

Hi Everyone,

To me, a [4-hours, 15KM, 890m up-870m down] climb is never easy under 30 Celsius sunny weather.

So I typed this many.

I am seeking your help on Activities Sync issue, caused by no pre-caution from Official Support, and discrepancy account issue by Garmin.

I purchased my Fenix 5X Plus from China and registered it. But, during the registration and login, it's found in some steps, my account cannot login, then I registered again (no alert from Garmin that the account is exists).

Then I tried to sync my activities from Garmin Connect to Runkeeper but failed.

I called the Official Support, I am told the issue is because I registered account in both China and International two servers. - God, how a user can know the account is different from in China and International).

Then, the Official Support told me that I can delete one of the account, I followed the way, deleted China account.

After that, I login to Mobile Garmin Connect, it required me re-login, I did that and found all the synchronized activities are lost, however, all the "Steps, Floors" information is kept (Heart Rate not).

Then I tried to re-sync again, but failed.

I logged in to Garmin Connect Web, same result, al activities lost, but "Steps, Floors" information is there.

I was shocked, immediately tried to use Garmin Express, but what a funny, the Express ask me re-login, when I tried to do that, I was told my account has been disabled. At this second, I understand the Garmin Express can only login by using account registered in China server.

Then I tried to download Garmin Express from Canada website, after installation, when I run the program, same Mandarin language and there is NO WHERE to select I want to login by using China sever account or International one.

Now, all history activities are still in my watch.

May I have your help to confirm and help to:

1. Does it mean the history activities can sync ONE time ONLY?

2. If not, how I can sync the history activities to my new account (which is not new!)

3. Is there any way I can choose which server I want to use when login to Garmin Express?

BTW, from the first day, I meet the mushy buttons issue, the watch strap also have gap with the roller. I accepted and tolerated all of them.

But today, the Official Supports really made me frustrated, I don not know whether Garmin care their Products and Quality, I know Garmin do not care users since they even can let the non-reproduceable arduous activities lost and never pre-alert user by executing advice from their official support to resolve a problem caused by their data discrepancy issue!

Thank you for your time to read.

Your inputs are appreciated!

    hi H,

thank you for explaining your Garmin setup

could you tell some more about your background like what area language are you using on your computer, etc

by now you know there are two Garmin hemispheres Wink

you can manual upload(sync) activities from Garmin Connect Web (use import)

    1. Does it mean the history activities can sync ONE time ONLY?

    2. If not, how I can sync the history activities to my new account (which is not new!)

    3. Is there any way I can choose which server I want to use when login to Garmin Express?

    1. no

    2. see above

    3. do not know (but by your own experience...not)

    happy & safe sporting

  • Hi OnlyTwo,

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

By now I also understand what user could lost if s/he takes Garmin. - There is nowhere I could learn that as same as nowhere I was introduced about "two hemishperes".

But as I explained, I cannot connect my watch with Garmin Express, since when I tried to login on Express, it telled me my account is disabled and I have nowhere to select login by using International Server/account. - So, I cannot export my activities into a file.

So, I am not able to MANUALLY upload into Garmin Connect Web. - It seems to me that's not called Sync but MANUALLY Upload or Import.

More importantly, even I "import" all activities, my Heart Rate and "My Day" will not be back - I can only see Steps, Floors, Calories are kept, I have no idea which others are losts

I am using Windows OS in Chinese Simplified, under Region selected to Canada.

Hopefully there is a way to really "Sync" the activities and ALL other data back.

    Thanks again.

    ok

    2 hemispheres ROW and APAC

you deleted your APAC account (with help of Garmin)

you created a new ROW account ?

Garmin Express on your windows chinese simplified, only connects to APAC

create a new account so you can upload what is left on your watch

remove and add the watch again to GE and choose the new account

regarding your data from the deleted APAC account

you still can ask Garmin to get it back because it is not removed until you receive an email it is

    or

are your fit files deleted on your watch in the ACTIVTY folder ?

So, I am not able to MANUALLY upload into Garmin Connect Web. - That's not called Sync but MANUALLY Upload or Import (because user has to do it one by one for  more than 1 activity, isn't it?)

    thx, learned something new

  • Thanks for your reply.

I created 2 accounts (APAC, ROW) unintentionally, so, now I have a existed ROW account - that's why when I signed in, I had no idea which account the data uploaded to.

I tried to find the "Activity" folder, and found all the activities.

I imported all of them to Garmin Connect ROW account now - THANK YOU.

Unfortunately, data like: Heart Rate (Max, average, etc.), My Day, and I don't know what are lost, really frustrated.

I have no idea whether these data can be migrated to my ROW account by either myself or Garmin?

By the way, as far as I can remember, in my office, the PC is under English (Canada), but Garmin Express is still displayed in Simplified Chinese.

It's funny user has no choice in Express but has in Garmin Connect. A big inconsistency issue and discrepancy issue in Data.

    Thanks again.

    that is good news

    even better

you can manually upload your steps, sleep activity data to Garmin Connect Web

just do as with activity upload but now choose the fit files from folders

    METRICS, MONITOR and SLEEP

be it not all of your data, but most of it Wink

    tip

at regular times backup and clean the ACTIVITY folder on your device

  • It's good to know other can also being backup.

Could you please let me know which is for Heart Rate?

    Thank you.

    MONITOR, but does it matter?

upload every fit file from those folders

you will get errors, but that is normal

    happy & safe sporting

  • Thank you, yes, it is important to me to know my past days status.

But  unfortunately, MONITOR is not the one for Heart Rate.

I uploaded the 2 .fit files, no HR history data imported into Connect, I can see nothing in HR chart.

But anyway, thank you again for all the information and help.

I uploaded the 2 .fit files, no HR history data imported into Connect, I can see nothing in HR chart.

should have been much more .fit files in that folder

    my folders content for...

METRICS 43 files with a timespan of roughly 4 weeks

MONITOR 196 files with a timespan of roughly 4 weeks

SLEEP 38 files with a timespan of roughly 10 days

    happy & safe sporting

  • emm, there are 35 files in Metrics and only 2 in Monitor, Sleep - no file since I don't use it.

I uploaded all the files again, same situation.

I think all past HR history is lost.

I will try to call Garmin Support to ask a "migration" from the Asia account to ROW.

    Thank you again.
