Cannot upload FIT file manually !

Hi !

For cycling I own a Lezyne GPS and as I like to have all my activities in one inteface I usually upload the FIT files from the Lezyne to GC.

But for some unknown reason, today's ride won't upload. I get the "an error has occured, try again later" message.

It used to work and now it doesn't. Has anythng been changed ?

Thanks

  • I think Garmin changed sth. with their FIT file checker which is used by the uploader. I now have 3 FIT files from my Lezyne Super GPS which I can't upload to Garmin connect. The first time this happened was on August 1st. The same files upload to Strava w/o an issue.

    I think Garmin changed sth.

you could be right here, are you willing to help find out ?

with your consent we can have a look at your files with FitFileRepairTool

or you can have a look at hem yourself

zip and upload your fit files here in the forum or provide a link to them on a cloud storage

also provide a single or more fit files from which the Garmin upload worked in the past

  • I'm experiencing the same behaviour. Before the 1st of August the upload to connect of Lezyne fit files went without a problem, after that it stopped.

I contacted Lezyne support and Garmin support about this issue (and linked to this thread), but Lezyne said it must be Garmin and Garmin say: Lezyne must have changed something in their software. I doubt the last thing, because the last firmware of my Lezyne dates from June 19th.

I found a workaround of getting the activities on Garmin Connect by uploading the Lezyne fit to Strava and then export the activity as a tcx, which is accepted by Garmin connect without a problem, but it's definately not the way I want this to work.

The files are definately not corrupted, because they work fine in all the other fit-tools I tried (gpsroot, Strava, Golden Cheetah, and all the online fit repair options I could find).

Attached you'll find three fit files in a zip:

    - 37A33DAD.fit, recorded and uploaded without a problem on the 30th of July and failed to upload after I found out about the failure of the following activities (after 1st of August).

    - 37A8180D.fit, recorded on 3rd of August. Upload never succeeded.

    - 37A968C6.fit, recorded on 4th of August. Upload never succeeded.

All three files failed to upload in my clean Garmin Connect account.

Checking via ANT SDK generates a fault.  "Message index 0 missing from lap messages."

Knowing that Garmin owns the ANT protocol, Lezyne is the one who has to adapt to the ANT specs.

Garmin seems not to repair the fit file in their upload module.

Other sites and platforms do repair while or after uploading to their platform.

  • I was expecting something along those lines.

Garmin put their foot down and seem to be more strict in their demand on protocol conformity. It would have been nice if their support had told me they changed something in their online environment which caused all this.

I'll point Lezyne support one other time to this thread and hope they can fix it in an upcoming firmware. The one thing I find odd is that besides fitfilerepairtool and garmin connect all other tools think the Lezyne files are alright.

Thank you for your time and effort. I'll get back when I get another reply from Lezyne support.

FitFileRepairTool did not show the fault, it only re-encodes FIT into FIT.

ANT+SDK did show the fault message.(log files are in the previous post).

It would have been nice if their support had told me they changed something in their online environment which caused all this.

totally agree with you on this one Wink

  • As of today the uploader of Garmin Connect accepts the GPS files of my Lezyne again! Thanks so much Garmin for fixing this (or more likely reverting the change).

I've had contact with Lezyne's customer support and they told me that they're aware of the issued but that there is currently no timeline to fix the problem. It's in the bug tracker though so it will probably be fixed in a future update.

EDIT: Reworded the information I've got from Lezyne's customer support to make it clearer.

  • Hi Ceedjay is it possible to fix one of my FIT files?
