Active calories not calculating

I am using Fenix F and the latest version of Garmin Connect (IOS). However i found all calories burnt in Swimming were not calculating in Active calories. For example, i swam 2000m today (600 calories) which was properly recorded by both watch and the phone app, while the active calories is still 500 today.

does it mean the active calories were solely based on the heart rates? since no heart rates were recorded during swimming for technical reason.

    Same issue here. Trail running with INSTINCT shows 798 calories burned. Active calories for the day shows 400. How can they not have fixed this?

    The values sound credible and correct. Do not mistake activity calories for active calories! Both terms have a significantly different meaning. Activity calories are RMR (Resting Metabolism Rate) calories for the time of the activity (calories that your body burns regardless of the effort, all the time) + active calories (those above the RMR) for the same time, hence it is very well possible to burn 798 Cal during an activity, while using only 400 active Cal - 798 activity Cal = 398 RMR Cal + 400 active Cal.

    Same problems! Run was 300 calories. Cycling 500. Total active for day so far - 704!

    I just edited my 5 old years post, changing the BMR to RMR. Both terms and values are similar and close to each other, but Garmin uses indeed the Resting Metabolic Rate in the calculations, not the Basal Metabolic Rate.
