Since approximately last week, Connect doesn't show the played tracks during a workout anymore.
Anyone also recognized it? It was a neat feature and I hoped it got developed further to show it like any other metric over time/distance.
Indeed I noticed the same...
I run with a Fenix 5 Plus. When browsing through my past recorded activities/workouts, I noticed that all was fine with software version 7.10, and the Playlist disappeared from the activity overview after my watch had upgraded to version 7.60.
After having me try multiple resets to factory settings, wipe and reinstall all of my ConnectIQ apps, install buggy beta-firmware versions, send them screenshots and .FIT files of runs before and after the issue appeared, Product Support kept insisting the problem was on my side, because there were other users who "didn't experience any such problems while running" (the "while running" comment made me think that they never did really understand the issue in the first place)
Finally, my ticket was 'escalated' higher up and now they got back to me with the same response you had:
"this feature was completely removed in order to be able to comply with the agreements Garmin has with its music partners"
This is the changelog for the F5plus series:
Changes made from version 7.52 to 7.55:
Since I found the playlist to be still there on 7.10 and disappeared since 7.60, I can only assume that the removal of the feature was one of the minor 'improvements' made as part of this update...
