Manually changing the VO2 Max estimate

My VO2 Max estimate of my FR245 is quite wrong. I saw that it can be set manually in the user profile in Garmin Connect Web as well as in the app.

However this setting is not really documented.

If I set the VO2 Max estimate manually, will VO2 Max be always set to that value and stay at that value? Or will the watch override it with the next sync? Or will the watch use the manually entered value just as the current best guess and the automatic estimation from the FR245 will take over and modify this value based on my activities?

Would be really good to know what putting a value in that field actually means.

Thanks!

  • I buy these watches because I assume that they are able to indicate values that are very close to reality.

If I accepted what you wrote, I wouldn't spend 500 euros on a watch and I wouldn't buy it if I knew it had these defects.

Now, wanting to put the numerical value aside, I want, or rather, I demand, precision regarding the upward or downward estimate of the x value.

If you buy a watch without looking at the advertised metrics and are happy to have a malfunction, speak for yourself.

I ran with two Garmin watches at the same time and obtained two different values. One of the two watches has estimated a drop which, in terms of performance, is absolutely not corresponding and must be corrected.
