Doubt about challenges and badges

Hi

Last week I won the steps weekly challenge (80K).

In garmin support web pages (https://support.garmin.com/en-IE/?faq=fU0T2AppaJ68D0sQEdlDK7) you can read:

Understanding Step Challenges in Garmin Connect

If you have a device that tracks steps, you can participate in challenges with other Garmin Connect users. Each week a new challenge begins during the night between Sunday midnight and Monday noon (your own time zone). As your steps add up throughout the week, you’ll see your rank with the other 7-12 participants in your challenge group. If you win a challenge, you’ll earn a badge.

After three days waiting for the final challenge analysis since challenge end, i didn't achieve any badge.
This is the ordinary garmin challenge behavior?

  • I don't think that the step challenge, the automatic one, are included. Looking at the description of the available badges it seems that it's only winning challenges against your connections that count so I would assume that you or one of your connections need to create your own challenge for the badge to be handed out.

  • Thanks, olni65 but the referred link  (https://support.garmin.com/en-IE/?faq=fU0T2AppaJ68D0sQEdlDK7) talks about other 7-12 participants, and this number of challenge candidates seems the participants that garmin selects automatically for the weekly challenge.

On Monday of this week I created a step challenge against my contacts / connections. Next Tuesday I'll see who of them wins the badge. If Garmin wants ;-)

  • Well, it does say so very clearly in the page you refer to. Hadn't seen that myself, and I have participated in - and won some - these auto-challenges for some time without getting any badge.

Sorry for the misinformation, but it was based on my experience as well looking at the descriptive texts on the available badges where it clearly says connections.

  • Support pages are outdated.

I contacted support about some outdated descriptions - and they do not care about it.
By e-mail and by clicking on "Was this page helpful?" - and nothing.
So anyway, don't waste your time for contacting them, they won't correct that.

    .

Another example: Garmin Connect Popularity Heatmap

The Popularity Heatmap in Garmin Connect is designed to show the most popular areas to bike. Heatmaps are generated in major cities based on aggregated user data. Currently this feature is only available for select major cities in the United States.

That information is old, the Heatmap works in many locations around the world.

    .

About the badge. Yes, right now you don't get anything for winning automatic weekly steps challenge.

That was probably true for old version of badges - you can still read old descriptions here: badges.properties.

Now there are only new badges and there is no badge for winning auto challenge.

You can challenge or receive a challenge from any of your connections. If you win the challenge you will get 2 points. It can be weekly, daily, weekend any. Just go to challenge, pick a connection & initiate a challenge. You won't get the point if you loose.

  • Another info:
Group-Challenges also do not create a badge!

If you create a Friends-Challenge with the same people, it works. Mentioned that a year ago. So don´t expect any change on this!

  • Group-Challenges also do not create a badge!

You do not get any badge for winning a group challenge, but you do get another badge for completing the first group challenge (a non-repeatable badge).

  • sadly I never got that badge...

    Me neither...

  • Me neither...

Probably for the same reason. Without telling us any details, it is hard to advise anything, but read the preceding posts - it should apply to your case too, if your problem is identical.
