Open water swimming distances inaccurate

My new Fenix 5 Plus doesn’t seem to work in openwater. The GPS seems fine when I walk, but is up to 90% inaccurate in the water. I’ve tried all 3 GPS settings as well as sticking my hand up at all of the turns but nothing works. Last 5km swim gave me a distance of 249m.

I have the same issue with my Epix2. Last weekend I swam 3km race in the lake (freestyle- front crawl) an my record shows just 2238m. The record in the map however seems to be roughly correct.

If the race track was officially measured, then you can edit the activity, adjusting the distance manually.

Well, you ale right, I can edit, but I was hoping to get at least roughly accurate results from my watch. 25% deviation is too much for me, so I wanted to see, if other EPIC user are facing the same issue.
