Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    Good morning all,
(Perhaps i posted in the wrong section earlier) I went for a brief recovery run last Thursday (26/1/17) and uploaded it from my Garmin 735 via Bluetooth as normal, but after appearing correctly in GC Mobile, it then appeared in GC Web as an activity two days earlier (24/1/17) with all the pace, HR and running dynamics charts severely messed up. The averages in the tables at the bottom look okay but the charts are unreadable, and when I sync the activity syncs with TrainingPeaks, the activity carries an enormous rTSS of about 5,700, which is messing everything up! Any ideas what happened and how i can fix this? I've had a look at the Fix Repair Tool, but without Access (or sufficient time..) it looks a right old faff...is there an easier way of doing it?

    Here's the offending activity: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1546120009

    Thanks vm.

  • Hello John,

In lap 8 there was 1 timestamp recorded out of order. Tried to go backwards 40 seconds which corrupted the file.
Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool if you want to compare to what you got elsewhere.

    Thanks Don.. !!!!!! :)

    Morning Mike,
That's a good point! It's attached here. Also worth mentioning, for some reason the GPS only connected about halfway through the run (very unusual on the 735xt), which i know is never a very good way to start out...but not sure why that should cause such a strange corruption to the file. Thanks very much for taking a look.

    Hello John,

There is no reason given for the goofy coordinates but usually it is caused by not having a solid satellite lock before hitting Start. Then to make things worse when the 735 got satellite lock it only recorded the Long....the Lat stayed blank and the elevations went up and down 10-15 meters every second. I removed the coordinates and elevations making the file into an indoor track run. All the graphs look good but there is no map without coords.

There was nothing obvious wrong with the file and whatever it was, FFRT basically resolved it without any input from me.

  • Garmin Connect Seems More Picky Than Other Platforms

I've had a few cycling activities that wouldn't upload to Connect, the .fit files uploaded direct from the Garmin (800) to Strava without issue. I subsequently downloaded the activities from Strava and found that these files would upload to Connect without problem.
