Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • Hi Alan,

please hve a look at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/91455145/2016-01-11-07-39-57-fixed.fit. This is a repaired version of your file. Unfortunately your file contains only 23 kb = about 20 minutes of your ride.

Fixed with Fit File Repair Tool version 7.0.

    Best regards
    Mathias

    Hi!

Would someone be able to repair this fit file please? Garmin 520 froze after saving and this file won't open.

    Thanks

Thanks, Mathias. That was very kind of you. It was a very short ride!

  • Another bad file. This is the 2nd time the 800 has failed to upload a file for me. I guess I'll try a reset of the device, if this file can be saved. The last time it happened, it was minor and one of you helpful folks was able to help and get it to work. I would greatly appreciate some help again.

    Thank you,

    Hello Kpomtb,

Whatever was corrupt was very minor again. It appears that there was no loss of data except the calories. I added them in using the generic formula of 40cal per mile.

So....here ya go. Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.

Thanks again. I wonder what is going on with the unit to keep doing this. Any guidance there?

    Hello Kpomtb,

Just guessing here. Your track starts with you on Hwy87 about 500 feet SE from where you finished and already moving at 15mph.
That indicates to me that you started without a good satellite lock and that corrupted the file headers.
Long ago I started turning on my GPS as soon as I get to where I park and let it sit on the hood or someplace with a good view of the sky for 10-15 minutes while I get ready. So far that has prevented me from starting without a good satellite lock and my elevations are better.

Your elevations appear to be just fine. They match my 24K Topo map and Google Earth within 15 feet.

Ok, I'll watch that in the future. I also did a factory reset and it uploaded today's ride with no trouble. Thanks again for your help. The two rides that corrupted were both out of town events that I really wanted the data and routes for.

    Thanks again!

    corrupt fit file

    Hi,
sorry to bother you with this request that has probably been posted several times... I run an amazing run up the Utliberg close to Zuerich today... Unfortunately, when trying to synchronize my garmin account it tell me the file is corrupt.
I would be soo thankful you could try fixing the file. I tried my self but can't use the online tools that are available.
Unfortunately the file is too big, so I can't attach it... could I email it to anyone?

You know how it feels if you loose data of a run you just loved... thus please help!
    Thanks sooo much!!!

    Hello Mike,

Sorry....that file is totally corrupt. The Fit File Repair Tool cannot even get the headers to load.
