Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Former Member
Former Member

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    All-

Thanks to all the good samaritans here!

Wondered if anyone has seen this before: I'm a Forerunner 35 user, and I've got a FIT file that uploads just fine, but seems to contain no GPS info — no map, no elevation data, etc. This happens occasionally to me on run-of-the-mill runs in locations where I normally have no trouble recording GPS. Distance, calories, splits, etc. are all there; it's just the location data that came up missing.

Anyone have a sense of whether this file could be "repaired" with GPS data, or is it unsalvageable? Many thanks.

  • There isn't any position information in the file so no map available. Recommend you log a ticket with Garmin to sort out the issue.
  • Hi!

Somehow, while trying to sync my fenix3 it got detached and it seemingly corrupted (some) of my activities, including the latest, unsynced one. Using dd I made an image of the file system and using fls from sleuthkit I identified a single fit file with todays timestamp & correct starting and stopping time. I expected some errors in the file, and indeed, strava complained.
I tried using http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/ to fix it, but it didn't work. Nor did the conversion to csv and trying to to fix it there.
Sadly, I'm on a mac, and my company computers are linux systems; I felt comfortable while recovering the fit file, but Fit File Repair Tool doesn't work on mac sadly. Could you possibly take a look?

  • Contrary to what the modification times for the .fit file I attached suggest, that's actually a ride from two weeks ago :(. Guess my data is probably really gone. Thanks anyway!

  • I'm back again with a corrupt file. Seems to happen on my long-run workouts the most (you know, the ones I work the hardest on and are the most important). If someone could help me out, I'm very thankful!

  • Back again with another problem file from Zwift. I went for a long while without any issues so it is a bit odd. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
