Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Former Member
Former Member

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    Hi,

Sorry to ask, but I was wondering if someone could help repair an incompatible FIT file? I normally wouldn't bother so much, but I completed my first ultra at the weekend and can't load the second half and would love to have it on record. I've tried to do it myself but it still isn't working.

    Thanks for your help.

    hi Hugh,

The 2018-05-05-10-43-13.fit file doesn't contain a single data record.

Give this file a try for the other one.

    cheers

    Thanks, Mike!

I think we spoke about the Karoo a bit a couple of months ago (page 83 :D). It's a new(er) Android-based head unit. A recent software update has made it a bit unstable again. Of course, I forgot that Strava won't take the duplicate upload for the "same ride", so I guess I'll bring it into Golden Cheetah later and see what the FitFileFixer did. Strava was able to "correct distance" from the GPS track and gave me 32.8 miles, so I got credit for that. Oddly enough, it won't "correct elevation" as well. Nothing happens even though it has the full GPS track and an elevation profile. But that's a Strava issue. I'm reluctant to replace the existing file on Strava with the fixed file due to the nature of the event and the comments.

Thanks for your efforts on this.

    hi Snowkid85,

Over 80% of the file was corrupted - give this file a go with was FFRT was able to recover.

    cheers

  • Please could someone have a look at this file for me and see if it can be repaired?

    Many, many thanks

  • or it might have been this file, one comes out on garmin with all the speeds and distances and altitudes correct but the reports corrupted and cannot upload to Strava. The other is a 1 second no data file

    hi John,

    Give this file a try.

The second file you posted contained only two data records for a grand total of a 1 seconds worth of data.

    cheers
