Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Mike, thanks for doing this - much appreciated, the map is spot on now.

Only thing is that it’s given me several KOM segments on Strava where the map’s been corrected. I guess there’s no way of you knowing which bits have got the wrong speed, but is there anything obvious in the data around the corrected section that could be fixed?

    hi m_hemsworth,

I have re-plotted your ride using gpsies.com and overlaid it with your ride data.

    Give this file a try.

    cheers

    hi m_hemsworth,

One of difficulties with using GPS for speed and distance is if the device can't maintain a 'clean' reception of the signal then it throws in some very strange calculations, especially if you are using smart recording. I would highly recommend getting a external speed and cadence sensor and switching to 1 second recording vice smart recording.

I have removed a number of obvious speed spike but I am unsure how much this will improve the KOM situation - this a by product of the smart recording.

    Give this file a try.

    cheers

Thanks Mike. Still showing a few KOMs but I've just hidden those segments from Strava! Really appreciate your help.

Hi - I completed my first 200k yesterday but my Garmin 820 locked with about 15k to go (possibly low battery issues - I had battery saver on though it jammed on a turn by turn instruction). The device appeared to keep on recording, and the summary data looked correct at 123k total (I recorded the first 80k separately, and I was able to save the ride at the end, by which time the 820 had helpfully unlocked), but the .fit file appears to have been corrupted. I've tried the usual fixes online but haven't had much luck. Any help (or advice on how to avoid in the future!) would be much appreciated - cheers, Andrew.

    hi Andrew,

If you want to make the 80km segment of your ride available then I will join the two of the them together for you.

Otherwise, give this file a try.

    cheers
    Mike

Hi Mike - thanks so much - you're a star. I've managed to find a tool to merge the two .fit files so now my half a dozen followers can see how slowly I rode 200k! Thanks again for the help.

    cheers,

    Andrew.

Can someone help me with this corrupt FIT file? I used the trial version of the Fit File Repair Tool, but the GPS data is not given for the last half. Thanks!
