Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • Hi all, my Garmin 810 powered off in the middle of a ride today. I turned it back on and started recording before it had a GPS lock and resulting fit file is corrupted. I had a course loaded and it showed me on course the remainder of the route, so it seems like the second part of this ride should be okay if I could clip out the "empty" entries in the middle. There might be some time differences to resolve too based on what I observed in one of the fixing tools. The problems start around mile 41.6. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,
    David

Think it was just one of those unfortunate issues that we have from time to time with what is basically a mini computer on our bikes.
  • Many thanks Mike. Out of curiosity, did you have to do anything special with the FFRT other than delete the corrupted entries? I considered purchasing the tool, but had problems getting it to install, worked through some error messages, and then saw weird time/locations. I wasn't sure if running the tool in demo mode was the cause for that last part.

    hi David,

There was a significant issue with the time stamps that FFRT needed to resolve and that was most likely the result of not having a solid GPS lock before you started recording again. Once they were fixed then your file became uploadable.

As the how Mathias now has his tool running in demo mode I am not 100% sure but I do know that he does something insofar as the second half of the file doesn't display correctly.

    cheers

    Hi!

I ran into a similar problem today. Did a 30 min power test up a climb in Italy (after 4 hrs of riding). With a few min left of the interval, my Edge 520 restarted itself. Once it was working again the data seemed to have been saved though. After uploading the file to Garmin Connect and Strava, I found that there's approx. a 40 min gap with no data. Strangely enough, the time and distance for the whole ride has been recorded though. I tried the Garmin Fit Repair Tool, but it won't upload the fit-file. Any ideas for how to fix it?

    Thanks in advance!

    hi ClasNordstrom,

There is a gap of 52mins where the data just simply hasn't be stored on your device. I would hazard a guess that it wasn't stored when your device shut itself down.

Without the data there is nothing I can do to assist.

    cheers
