Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Former Member
Former Member

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • Hi Mike and happy new year!
I joined also recently the club of the corrupted FIT files. This FIT file is from a swim session with the FR935 and the swim HRM. This is the 2nd time that it happens to me and lose the workout data.
I tried to sync on PC with the garmin express and mentioned corrupted file and hence unable to sync. Would it be possible for you to fix it?
    thanks a lot
    Konstantin

PS: both cases were with quite full ACTIVITY folder on the watch. I assume this should be the reason of the file corruption, we should regularly empty/delete the old activity files stored on the watch, is that true?

    hi Konstantin,

In answer to your 2nd question, if your device isn't deleting the old activities after you have uploaded them, then yes you should do it on a regularly. Your device only has so much memory to use and if it doesn't have enough to record all of your activity..... corrupted .fit file. I upload all my activity files from my Edge 800 on a monthly basis to my computer.

Give this file a try - note there is only 720m worth of swim data.

    cheers

    Thanks a lot Mike,
the fixed file was indeed able to be synced.
You are right, only 720m data are present, I think this has to do with the record phase of the watch during the work out.
Indeed I observed that some lengths were not recorded, the watch showed 0m while I had swum several lengths. I need to make some more workouts in the pool to check what is going on.
    thanks again

  • Greetings, all! I've got a corrupt fit file on my hands and was hoping you could help. Is someone able to help me repair this file? I have been using my Garmin Edge 520 for 3 years and haven't had a bad fit file like this before. The firmware on the computer itself is updated and was working the other day. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

For reference, here's my email: [email protected].

    Thank you all in advance!

    hi Sepie,

There is less than a miles worth of data contained in that file - this file contains what has been recovered.

    cheers
    Mike
  • Thanks for your help, Mike! That didn't seem to fix it though :(
