Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Former Member
Former Member

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • I ran a trail race today, but the uploaded file is missing the GPS track from the last mile or two. Weirdly, Garmin reports my total distance correctly at 11.51 miles and shows the splits through that distance, but the GPS data drops out at around mile 9.1. Is this something that is recoverable? I've attached the FIT file in case someone could possibly take a look...

    Thanks!

    hi James,

It is recoverable but will require you to map your run course with a website like www.gpsies.com or www.ridewithgps.com or any other site that will allow you to re-create your run and then export that data as a .gpx or .tcx file.

Once I have such a file then I can overlay it with your current data using the Fit File Repair Tool.

    cheers
    Mike

    Corrupt FIT File Garmin 1000

Can someone please help me see if this fit file can be repaired? it is not a circular route.
and Why do these errors occur? error in satellite signal? some way to prevent it?

The web http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/ gives an error "out of memory" and
    https://www.fitfiletools.com not repair the file.

    hi deorcruz,

Your file contained a small amount of data corruption (8min15sec of data). Unlikely to be an error in the GPS signal, more likely that your device lost reception (dense trees, overhead cover, tall buildings etc) and then regained it.

    Give this file a try.

    cheers

Very thanks kiwimtnbkr, it was a completely uncrowded area. This error has occurred 2 times in the last 4 routes. I'm going to change the sd card (it was old) and I've made a factory reset, to see if it does not happen again.
  • Hi Mike,

Will this work? Using Strava, I created a route from a friend that ran the same course and very nearly matched my overall distance and elevation...then exported the GPX. I've attached it, along with a TCX version, and my original FIT file.

    Thanks!

Any help with this corrupted FIT file would be greatly appreciated. My wife has been training the whole year to do her first century with me and of course her Garmin ran out of battery as we pulled into the parking lot after the ride. We ran the fit file thru the online fit repair tool and for some reason the ride is ending in Spain instead of Southampton, NY and when it uploads to Strava there are no Strava Segments on the ride. She rode exceptionally well over the rolling hills in the last 20 miles so she is really bummed out about the missing segments. I've uploaded the original corrupted fit file and the fixed file that didn't have any segment data. Is there any hope in salvaging the fit file to potently claim some Strava trophies? Here's how the fixed file looks on Strava and Garmin Connect.
