Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • So, something happened to my 510, I lost most of my settings, and the new ones would not save. I could still start the ride, but I couldn't save it properly. To my surprise the .fit file was there when I plugged the device into my computer. Strava can read it, but Garmin Connect or Sport Tracks can't.

    Hi,

I have been a user of Garmin Edge 500 for years, seldom had any problem.
However, last sunday (March 26) I had a real problem.
That day Summertime (GMT+ 1+ extra 1h) started here in the Netherlands (I fear that messed things up, please read on...).
I participated in a local 118 km event. Start at around 8:59 AM.
I put in quite some effort, and the Garmin looked good at every glance during the whole ride.
I stopped the Garmin after finish. Distance 118 was right.
At home, I was eager to upload the file on my PC.

Garmin Express wanted to update Time Zone Map to vs. 19.00.
Unfortunately I didnt save my new file first (and didn't first look for it btw), but clicked on update and synchronize
After that Garmin Express as usual opened Garmin Connect.
It however opened the previously uploaded file of days before.
I synced again, but same result.

In the Garmin maps there is no sign of the March 26 file.

According to Recuva 3 file clusters are overwritten and 44 clusters allocated at offset 669. No clue what all that means exactly.
Opening the file in wordpad and notepad I see incomprehensible stuff (no letters and numbers).

I hope that at least a big part of the file can be fixed.
I would be very grateful if someone could repair this file!

    Greetings
    Rob

    hi Rob,

Unfortunately there is very little recoverable data in that file and what little there is all over that place. Sorry but there is nothing that can be done with it.

    cheers

Thanks a lot for the help, Mike !

Sad tho' I cant have my good 'souvenir' file of the event.

Next time I'll be extra careful to check & save file before update, and run the reliable Strava app on phone as backup, however less data with that (gps and speed only for me now).

    Fenix 5x .fit file corrupted

I've just come back from doing a run and my data won't upload.
When I try to upload it manually in Connect, it says "An error occurred with your upload. Please try again."
I tried it at http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/ but I wasn't able to fix it.
This is with a Fenix 5x. I was following a course, if that makes any difference.
    Anyone able to help?
  • GPS Error

Can someone help me with this .fit file? The gps was haywire on my vaHR. First time I've encountered something so far off. I've linked the course I actually ran for comparison purposes.

    Thanks in advance!!

    hi lakaw,

From the course that you know is good, can you export the .GPX file for it and attach it in a reply to this message. I can then overlay the .gpx file with your .fit file.

    cheers
