Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    Hello Muggatu,

I do not have a Fenix but the data in your file indicates that something is very wrong with the device or the setting you are using or the connection to your treadmill. I have attached an Excel file showing all your data as recorded. If you selected the INDOOR setting there should be no elevations but you will see that there are elevations and they jump all over and are obviously corrupt. You will see that your Fenix is skipping timestamps. You will see that the distance is corrupt showing only 0.03kms for a 1h35m workout. There are no speeds because there is no distance. The temperatures were a little high at 158*F so I removed them.
I repaired what was left and the file will load into Connect showing HR Cadence and Power plotted over Time. See Dropbox file.

You might record a short outdoor run with GPS to see if it works properly and then a short run outside (no treadmill) using the Indoor setting (turns GPS off) to see what happens.

    Thank You

    Hello,

My fenix 2 has started corrupting files regularly, I have searched forums and tried a few things to fix it.

I have updated my fenix 2 software, cleared my device from garmin connect and re-added it. I have deleted all old history workouts to clear corrupted files and restored the factory settings on my Fenix 2.

Please help this is infuriating for a watch so expensive.

I have attached the fit file from my 2 hour indoor trainer ride today. If it could be fixed and you could offer advice how to get my garmin syncing properly I would appreciate it. The first 8 months it worked fine. :(

Thank you so much Datezz, being unable to upload the data I had no idea which fields were causing the problems. I did try and remove the "indoor Speed" option today for my bike ride and file still corrupted. I will try over the next few days to play with the settings that I use when recording indoor workouts. If this does not solve the problem I will investigate whatever warranty is left on my fenix and possibly replace the device if it has decided it no longer knows what altitude is.

Again thanks for the help at least I have some data and direction to try problem solving.

    Sincerely
    Keith

    Corrupted file

I stumbled upon this thread in my search for how to fix a corrupted .fit file. Just recently got an Edge 520 around Christmas and have probably 20 rides logged so far with no issues but this morning my ride ended up corrupted. I've tried a few tools with no luck. Would it be possible for someone with the Fit File Repair Tool to fix my .fit file or maybe give me another lead? I'm at wits end here. Thanks for any help.

    Hello Terminus84,

The timestamps were 2/9/2017?? Usually corrupt timestamps are caused by starting without a good satellite lock and there are missing or corrupt coordinates but in your case all the coordinates and data were there. Only the timestamps were corrupt??
Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.

    Corrupt Zwift ride file

    Hi Dan or Mathias,
I exported this fit file from Zwift. Various other rides have exported from Zwift and imported to Connect no problem, but this one just seems to give a corrupt file message, even when I re-export it.
Any chance you could take a look? I'm wondering if I had something set up wrong on the trainer / sensors when I recorded this?
    Many thanks!

  • "Undefined" message when importing a .fit file

Hi all - seems t be a wealth of knowledge about .fit files in this thread.
I've tried a few thing myself with this file - to see if tools which autocorrect it will help, and no joy

Does anyone know what the message "undefined" means when trying to do an import?

I've imported many files over the months, and this is the only file I've ever had this happen with.

Also - any pointers of things to look out for - I don't find the .fit file itself when i open it on a Macbook, even vaguely understandable

    Many thanks.
  • GoldenCheetah imports the file OK, with the warning: Warning - Lap 2 is ignored (invalid end time). The summary contains:
    Date/Time: Sun Jan 15 11:32:23 CET 2017
    Sport: CYCLING
    total timer time: 53.30 mins
    total dist: 27.65 km
HR, cadence, power etc look OK, only total Training Effect is 0.0 which is strange.
It looks as if the second lap message contains a totals message with all 0 values. I guess that this should be fixable by one of the tools around.
  • That's really great info. Thanks for that.
    Not used Goldencheetah before.
So far the tools I've tried haven't fixed this but this gives me something to aim for.

    Thanks Twinaxx
