Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Exported original .fit files have no data?!

    Hi there!

I just got a Garmin Vivofit and am trying to export my data with no luck. I want to make a spreadsheet of my step counts through out the day, so I "exported original" from Garmin Connect on the steps dashboard. But when I try to convert the .fit to a csv using tools (http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/ and http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do;jsessionid=3A6ACF7137D22FCB018AD06C8C7BDB36.fe3) it either crashes or says there is no data in the files.

    Can someone help me out?

    Thanks!

These are the exported .fit files from one day.

  • Elevation way off for the entire activity

    Hello,

The attached fit file is a trail run I did in an area where the actual elevation is around 200-600ft, but GC shows it as 17915ft for the entire file! I've tried enabling/disabling auto-correction which didn't have any effect. Can someone repair this fit file to show the actual elevation? Thanks!

    Frank

  • It will be a bit of work, but it can be done with the online fit file repair tool.

    Hello Stepdetect03,

There is no usable data in those Monitor files. That is by design so people cannot edit and then resubmit false step data.

    Hello Frank,

I repaired the elevations using the Fit File Repair Tool. The data stops before returning to where you started so there is probably some distance missing from the end of your run.

    Hi Don,

Thanks for the reply. So is there anyway of saving or storing my step counts throughout the course of a day? I'd like to have more detail than the total step count number after each day.

    Thanks!

    Step Data Collection

    Hi Don,

    Thank you for the reply!

Is there any way to save / log step counts throughout the course of a day to get a better sense of my activity?

Also what can I use those exported Monitor files for?

    Thanks!

    Hello Stepdetect03,

    Toss the Monitor files.
I do not have a VivoFit but according to the manual under "History" it is recording steps, calories, etc. When you sync it with your Garmin Connect account you will see all your steps for each day tabulated.

You can indeed not re-sync monitor files, but using the FITCSV tool contained in the freely downloadable FIT SDK you can convert the data to spreadsheets and review it for yourself, although the spreadsheets are not easy to work with. You can also write your own software to display activity files as well as monitor files with the FIT SDK. The FIT file format is well documented, see www.thisisant.com.

    Hello Twinaxx,

What you say about the FITCSV tool is correct. The problem appears to be that the exported MONITOR files from Garmin Connect are empty, contain no data?? I exported several of mine from my VivoActive and they all were empty same as all the files from Stepdata02.
