Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    Hello Carlos,

The data stops at the end of the second transition. The entire run is missing.
Fixed the data that was there with the Fit File Repair Tool.

Excel software for managing and viewing .FIT files

I posted this in its own thread, but since it relates to fixing broken files, I'll repost it here.

I just bought a Garmin watch for activity recording last week. Actually, I bought 4, cuz I wanted to compare them. Now, after only short time, I find myself inundated by an unmanageable collection of .FIT files - Garmin Connect is just not up to the task of handling them ... and besides, I missed pressing stop a few times. So, since I'm a retired software developer, yesterday I took matters into my own hands and started writing a Excel spreadsheet to help me catalog these files, prune what I don't need, and fix mistakes.

A working version is now on my computer and if anyone else would like a copy, I'll pop it into my dropbox, both as a working Excel 2007 file and as .BAS files so you can check that I'm not stealing your credit card numbers and build your own spreadsheet, if you so desire.

I'll be working on it more in the next few days, getting it to compare fit files, delete duplicates and bad files, etc. Let me know if you want it and I'll publish my dropbox address.

    FIT File

I did Ironman Wisconsin Sunday, and upon saving my Forerunner 920xt went dead. The file shows as corrupt and I haven't been able to get any of the online tools to fix it. It was in Triathlon Mode. Can anyone help me out here?!?

Here is a link to the file, since it is 1.25MB ---> https://www.dropbox.com/s/clqb0to69lkiowt/69B70002.FIT?dl=0

    Thanks!

    Hello Rick,

Looks like all the data is there except the elevations. For some reason the elevations were all the same, either blank or 26132' high??
I used the Fit File Repair Tool to add elevations using the DEM elevations from MapQuest.
They are not as good as what your 920 would have done if it had been working properly but they are better than nothing.

  • Corrupt .fit file help

    Hi,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with what I'm guessing is a corrupt .fit file. I did Ironman Wisconsin on Sunday and all I can upload is the swim portion. In messing around with one of the online fit file tools, I did see the entire bike portion pop up on a map, but I couldn't figure out how to save it and I still don't know where my run data is. I'd love to be able to fix the file myself, but I'm definitely clueless when it comes to this stuff. Plus a similar thing happened to my file from the 2015 race, so it's really eating at me that I now have two IMWI's with messed up data. Below are dropbox links the 2015 and 2016 .fit files, and if someone can help fix even some of the data, I'd really appreciate it!

    Thanks!

    Hello KB,

The 2015 file stops abruptly at 8mi into the run.
The 2016 file stops abruptly at 93 mi into the bike ride.
There is no more data and no indication of what happened.
Here ya go....fixed what I could with the Fit File Repair Tool.
