Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

nothing wrong with your fit file....probably GC....

look on the GC page, they have a banner on top explaining :)

thanks, will try again later but seemed strange that I could not upload Monday's run on Monday or tonight but I was able to upload a MTB ride I just complete an hour ago :)

Just wondered if anyone could try and fix a corrupted garmin .fit file for me? I tried using the 'Fit file repair tool' after a 30ish mile ride I did earlier today kept coming up as about 2 miles on Strava, when I look at the ride on the Garmin edge 800 device, it does say 33.28 miles but when I actually click on it it doesnt display any other information apart from the fact I lapped it at 8 miles.

I wasn't successful with using the tool but it may be because I'm unaware of what i'm really doing with it, i'll attach the file and if anyone could take a look at it or suggest anyway to fix it, it would be appreciated.

I get the feeling that Its not fixable though, if not maybe someone could explain what happened

  • Quick question and might be a silly one but I have to ask - Fenix 2 uses .TCX files will this program also repair .TCX files - I'm asking because a friend of mine has a couple important corrupt files that I he would like to see on Garmin Connect..

    Hello Martin,

    Absolutely.

The Fit File Repair Tool Full Version (paid) will open and repair FIT, TCX, GPX, Daum CSV, Poolmate CSV, HRM (+GPX), SDF, Polar/Suunto XML, Tanita (weight data), Suunto SML.

You can manipulate all the data in an Excel-type spreadsheet with all the data in columns.

You can import various pieces of files and combine them into one large file plus many more functions.

I am just a satisfied user and paid for the product and IMHO this is a fabulous piece of software.

    hi George,

Fit File Repair Tool reported that your session ended abruptly and that data records at the end of the recording are probably missing. There is only 1.97kms worth of data values recorded in the .fit file.

I've seen this on a number of occasions when people have pressed the stop button and then powered down their unit (or just simply, because they are using Auto Pause, powered their unit down or allowed it to auto-shutdown), instead of pressing stop, followed by pressing and holding the lap/reset button for 5secs which ensures that all the data values are properly recorded to the .fit file and then powering down their unit. The Event Log from the .fit file supports this as there is no 'Stop Disable All' command recorded. The Event Log also shows that a 'Stop All' command was sent to your Edge800 at 5mins12secs into your ride.

If you followed the correct procedure for saving a file then I am not sure what has happened sorry.

Give this file a try - note that it still only contains the 1.97km worth of data values.

    cheers

    Thanks for trying Martin.

Ah yes what you're saying about turning the device off before holding the lap/reset key is what I think happened, I usually do follow the correct procedure but I was in such a rush after my ride that I feel In forgot to reset it properly.

I did press the Stop all button at the 5 mins 12 secs part into my ride but I definitely started it again afterwards as my average speed and distance was all changing etc when I was riding.

I've cleared up some space on the Garmin now and done a hard reset but hopefully it was just the fact that I forgot to stop and reset.

    Best regards

    George
  • fantastic! - Good to know! Thank you.

    Length too short - walking

I have uploaded a fit file but it seems that there is not all data displayed on GC. The length of my activity is around 30 km, but it is displayed only 17,04 km.
The elapsed time is 5H and the time displayed for my walking is 2H49m.
During my activity i had lot of loosing signal, the weather was not good. I have tried to edit the file (csv file) but i don't know what is incorrect.
Can you fix that and send me back a repaired fit file.
    Thanks

    Hello Scott,

The coordinates were all good. The distance is 29km. The total time is 5h05m.

Apparently the signal losses screwed up the recording of the speeds and distances on the 810 but the actual recorded data is okay.

So....here ya go. Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.
