Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I did an Ironman at the weekend. I am unable to see any data on garmin connect. Only the swim comes up on strava. I have attached the file. Any clues to what has happened or how can I fix this. Really only interested in seeing the bike. Any help would be great.

    hi Bombidal,

Your .fit file only contains data values for your swim/T1 and 146km of your cycle. Fit File Repair Tool also reported that the session ended abruptly as can be seen in this pic and that data records at the end of the recording are probably missing.

From a discussion I had with another 910XT user whose .fit file I was able to repair, he stated at the end of a session that the correct sequence was to press the 'stop' button followed by pressing and holding the 'lap/reset' button. This is the same sequence as my Edge800 and it ensures that all of the data records are recorded in the .fit file prior to the unit shutting down. If you followed this sequence then I am sorry but I am not sure what happened.

What I have been able to recover is here.

    cheers

Hey guys. I did a 101 mile ride today and it will not upload. I would really like to be able to take a look at this. It is saying bad file like they seem to do at 100+ miles. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Your .fit file only contains 6.6 miles of data values. Fit File Repair Tool also reported that the session ended abruptly as can be seen in this pic and that data records at the end of the recording are probably missing.

I know that with my Edge800 that I have to press the 'stop' button followed by pressing and holding the 'lap/reset' button for 5 seconds to ensure that all of the data records are recorded in the .fit file prior to turning it off. If you followed this sequence then I am sorry but I am not sure what happened.

What I have been able to recover is here.

    cheers

i am having trouble with bad data as well. this is the first time my garmin 500 has done this. when i try to upload, it goes through the motions until it gets to the "detecting climbs" part and then reverts to "error processing activity. could this have anything to do with the icon that mysteriously showed up a few months ago when i plug in my garmin to my mac that says "garminext"? any help is appreciated. i really hope this isnt going to become a recurring issue for me.

Edit: strava's site just went down for maintenance. hopefully this is the issue with my uploading and not corrupted data.

    hi Kelso,

I've checked your file with the Fit File Repair Tool and everything looks ok with - FFRT also reports that the file was recorded with an Edge800 but you are saying it was recorded with an Edge500?

Pretty sure the issue is with the Strava site and not with your file, if you can upload it to Garmin Connect then for all intents and purposes the file is ok.

    cheers
