Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Here ya go. Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.
  • Another messed up .fit file.

Could you please help me with this one? Thanks!

I may not have pressed the reset button after this one. Does this definitely corrupt the file?
  • @OVERTRIK:

You can download a repaired copy of your file from https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/91455145/20130426-061648-1-1328-ANTFS-4-0-fixed.fit.
One data record in the middle of your file was corrupt. I don't think this has to do with forgetting to press the reset button.

Repaired with Fit File Repair Tool version 5.11. (beta version, not yet published)

    Best regards

    Mathias

Wow, thank you so much. I am a long time polar user and have run into so many of these quirks with garmin. still debating whether to return it or stick with it. If it functioned the way it was supposed to it would be an awesome watch. But in less than a week I have encountered:

    1) a corrupt fit file
    2) calorie burn which was WAY off and had to adjust with activity level that isnt even close to what they describe
    3) the watch shutting off during transfer (twice). still not sure what causes this.
    4) occasional double cadence measurements (ie most will be 80-90s but then get spikes in the 180s. seems the magnet on the pedal was too close.

I would like to have a way to fix the files but that is another $50US which it doesnt seem like I should have to pay. In 10+ years I have never had a polar file be corrupt.

In any case thanks again. Hopefully there will be another firmware fix. Does anyone know if there is there a website that tracks this info?
  • Mathias,

Just wanted to clarify. I am not stating that the fit file repair tool is not worth the money. I just took a look at the manual and it is very feature-rich. This goes way beyond just repairing a corrupt fit file. I will look at this more in-depth to see if it will take care of what I need.

    2 quick questions.

    1) can i remove the GPS info from the file? I did an indoor training this morning and I guess the GPS was going so it took that info over my speed/cadence sensor. So for 1hr I rode .35 miles :) I know the speed/distance info is in there as the distance shown in garmin connect is 19miles.
    2) i know you can save in various format (.tcx, .fit, .hrm) but can i edit those files as well or only .fit?

    Thanks!

  • Edge 810 crashed at end of long (and wet) sportive

Here Ya Go. I used the Fit File Repair Tool on your file. The software also recalculated the distance of your ride using the gps data. The mileage went up 3+ miles. You might want to calibrate your wheel circumference and check the setting in your 500.

If you think your settings are correct I can have the software put the mileage back to the original number, just let me know.

Just seen this thread. The attached file seems corrupt, it froze when I pressed save on the device. I'd so love the data as this was my first ever sportive - and it rained the whole time.

Any chance it can be fixed?

    Thanks
  • Can anyone help me with a broken fit?

    thanks for your message.

Here are the answers to your questions:

yes - when you export your data as fit or tcx file you can select exclude options - one of them is "gps data"

    2) i know you can save in various format (.tcx, .fit, .hrm) but can i edit those files as well or only .fit?

yes - you can load fit / tcx / hrm files into the editor, edit your data and export into fit / tcx / hrm file format.
The editor is the same for all file formats. The tool can be used to convert between fit / tcx / hrm files in the same way.

    Best regards

Completed Ironman South Africa this weekend just to return to data not uploading. I would really appreciate it if someone can help me repair the file. If anything, the cycling info is the most important. Thanks.
