Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • ?Mac-related problem

I have just had my first corrupt file in 4 years using an edge 500. It's also one of the first times I have tried to upload a ride using a mac (on loan from a friend). I restarted the edge to look at the ride data before and it was all present under history. I then turned it off again for a couple of hours before trying to upload the data. Is there an increased risk of files becoming corrupted when using a mac rather than windows, I am relative new to using a mac so it may be operator-dependent?

Could somebody help me out and try to repair it?

    Thanks,
  • Why are so many files corrupt in Garmin Devices? Does it have anything to do with user error/bad device usage or BUGs in the device?
It also happened to me today, so I would appretiate someone could fix the file for me. Thanks.

I do not know why the files get corrupted for sure but these are only electronic gadgets. They do pretty well overall.

Your file had data from 3 different days. A short piece from 4/20/2013 at the start, the main track from 4/21/2013 in the middle and a short piece from 11/20/2011 at the end.
I kept the middle piece and trashed the rest and corrected the file name.

You should check your Laps folder for awhile and make sure it is empty after doing the 3-2-1 reset procedure. This track was corrupted by some pieces of old tracks left over in your Laps folder.

So, here ya go. Your file was fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.

IMHO the corruption is caused when the user does not press and hold the Lap/Reset button for the 3-2-1 count.
When you just plug in the device to the computer the device uses an auto save routine that sometimes screws up.....again just MHO.

Your track has only 7 minutes of data and stops with you still zooming along at 24mph. If it looked good to you before you plugged it into the MAC then I would suspect that auto save function unless you did in fact do a 3-2-1 reset before plugging in.

Anyway, here ya go. Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.
  • Thanks for your efforts. I shall probably avoid looking at history data until uploaded in future.

Man, you are the best. Thank you so much for your effort explaining and correcting the file to all of us in such a short time.
Maybe my case was another example of missusage afterall :)

    Thanks once again.
