Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    hi PTTthelma,

The Fit File Repair Tool wasn't able to find anything obviously wrong with your file but it may have subtlety 'fixed' something within the file as I was able to get it to upload to Garmin Connect without any issues.

    Give this file a try.

    cheers

please help with corrupted files (main race of the year)

    Hello

Last Saturday I made the race I trained for last year : The MTB Raid of La Meije in the French Alpes.
It lasted 10 hours and 50 minutes as shown on my 910XT Watch. However, on the Watch itself, on the history, the activity exists but averages and max are equal to zero (while power and cadence are blank) !
When I tried on September the 21st to upload to Garmin connect, it did not work. Manual upload also fails...

Auto fix of the file also fails : only 1st lap is rescued...

Could you please try to fix the file damaged file 2014.
I do also have same issue with same race did last year : damaged file 2013.

    That will be great !!
    Thanks in advance !

    hi Jose,

Fit File Repair Tool reported that both your sessions ended abruptly as can be seen in this pic and that data records at the end of the recording are probably missing so your total distance may not be correct.

I've seen this on a number of occasions when people have pressed the stop button and then powered down their unit (or just simply, because they are using Auto Pause, powered their unit down or allowed it to auto-shutdown), instead of pressing stop, followed by pressing and holding the lap/reset button for 5secs which ensures that all the data values are properly recorded to the .fit file and then powering down their unit. The 2014 Event Log and 2013 Event Log from the .fit files support this as there is no 'Stop All' command recorded at the end of the files.

2014 file your 2014 file only contains just over 4hrs worth of data (23.92km), probably as a result of the session ending abruptly. Here is what I have been able to recover - file.

NOTE - you have got some significant periods of absolutely no cadence data being recorded. Might pay to check that the magnet is in line with where it needs to be with the sensor and if it is then it could be time for a new battery.

2013 file your 2013 file only contains only 4hr37mins worth of data (23.21km), probably as a result of the session ending abruptly. Here is what I have been able to recover - file.

    cheers

    Hi KIWIMTNBKR,

Wow, answer was very quick ! ;-)

I fully agree for 2013 file : last year, after I had the issue with this activity, I figured out that I was missing to "reset" activity.
However since then I do always push stop, wait for "HR recovery rate" pop-up to appear (it seems that it has an influence on the TE) and then I Reset activity. I clearly remember doing so last Saturday...

Maybe the full file is in my watch (500 ko seemed to me quite small for such a long activity). Do you know how to extract it ?

    PS :
    (1) Yes cadence is null for long periods : uphill was very hard, technical and in the mud... so I (and 95% of racers) pushed a lot... shame on me...
    (2) While being in the mountains, in some valleys watch loss several times GPS satelite reception... maybe this is the root cause for the failure.
    (3) I see the activity on my watch : 10:50 hours and 69km... I created another 20 seconds "fake" activity on Sunday (as recommended on FAQ). When I come back to Sunday activity, watch beeps for a long period.

    Thanks again.

    José

Did a big ride today. Of course the file got corrupted. Any help in getting it repaired would be greatly appreciated.

Upload seemed to be not working so I put on drop box.

    Thanks

  • Hello!

My latest activity will not upload as well (and of course it's my biggest race of the year ...). I've checked the XML and the structure seems fine, I've also loaded it in Fit File Repair and it didn't seem to fix it, but I only have the trial version so that might be problem. Could a kind soul take a look in the full version?

    Thanks!

    hi JeanMartin,

I have had a look at your file with the Fit File Repair Tool and it couldn't find anything wrong with it, unless it was something subtle that it fixed in the background.

I have been able to upload the file to GC without any issues so give this file a try. NOTE - make sure you delete any already uploaded version of this activity before you try and upload the 'fixed' one.

    cheers
