Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Former Member
Former Member

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • Hi I have one more question. The data I was able to read off that file shows all except 32km of the 102km ride. I can see a map of the first 70km, but the last 32km is missing for me. Can you help me to find/see the missing 32km? I'm sorry, I'm not very experienced with this so hope I'm explaining it correctly.

  • I attached the wrong file! This one is the one I am having trouble with:  2020-07-08-08-34-17.zip

    hi,

recording to the fit file ended abruptly without proper closure and summary

ran your fit file through Fit File Tools's section remover (without any removing) for you

  • Hi, could someone help me with the two attached files?

The first file was saved as such after my Fénix imagined it detected a fall and wanted to send a notification to my contacts and saved it...

I though OK, I'll start another hike and connect it later... Only now the watch shows it as multisport activity and not a hike, neither mobile Garmin Connect nor the desktop one upload/sync the activity (the desktop GC even tells me to remove the file manualy as it isn't supported).

I tried connecting both files in Fit File Tools but with mixed resutls. Yes, I can see all of GPS tracking data and graphs seem about right, but there are some things wrong:

    • the activity type is other, not hiking (to hell with that, I can change it in Connect web),
    • overall distance, time (both elapsed and moving, even though the data is there), elevation gain and loss are not correct,
      • those seem to be taken from the first hiking activity only
    • respiration rate is constant.

    Thank you2020-07-13-09-44-24.zip

    hi,

had a look at your fit files

first one is ok with all the summary data at the end

the second one is a two part multisport activity with the first part taking only 1 second

the second part containes the rest of the hike

the recording to this file ended abruptly without a proper ending and missing summary data

    repaired the second part

joined both parts with help of Fit File Repair Tool

respiration rate as you know is not recorded using wrist hr during activity

    Hi,

My watch crashed after around 6h 30min of activity, that was being recorded yesterday (July 18) using BF hiker app on my Vivoactive3. After syncing to Garmin Connect, the activity was not even found. Today I used a disk recovery tool, and managed to get the activity file... although I think the file content is mostly corrupted. I tried a couple of tools with no luck.

I believe we started the activity around 9.30am and the watch crashed around 4.00pm. This was nearby Squamish, BC.

I would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for checking the file! I used it for about 24h but not actively, but I guess any sort of action on the watch would potentially overwrite the original recording. That file was found in the "Activities" directory, and was last modified yesterday around 4pm... But I also checked the context and it does t look like other FIT files.

I'll scan again and maybe I have better luck. Thanks again!
