Corrupt FIT File Repair Requests

Former Member
Former Member

Hi,

I would like to load this file into any software, but all of them tell me that it cannot be imported.
For some reason the file is not working (the watch ran out of battery while it was tracking the hike), but I would really like to have it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • Many thanks again!

looks like the garmin.stevegordon site could work for me, with the problem I had, and will try the other measures as well. Hopefully won't need your assistance again.

I am having a difficult time with a recent file. The data for sensors and elevation is being jammed into the last few minutes of the ride on Connect and TrainingPeaks. On Strava it is viewable throughout the ride (they however do not display everything). I have attempted to repair it using the FIT File Tools website but it still is not working. It actually gets worse. If someone could help repair it and let me know if it looks like a problem with the Edge 530 or just an anomaly. I would appreciate it.

The date and start time should also be  May 11, 2020 10:15 AM eastern daylight savings time.

Thanks for trying. It still has the same issue. All of the data is squeezed into the last few minutes on the graphs. It is there; just not in the correct place on the graph for some reason. If I scroll over the chart the values are constant (nothing changes - GPS, hear rate, power, etc) from the start until 119 minutes and then the charts go through the entire route in the remaining 12 minutes.

Maybe I need to reset the Edge 530.

I imported your activity into my GC web, and it looks as if you inadvertently started the activity on the device some 112 hours before the ride, and have let it like that for the 5 days. You can fix it pretty easily without any external tools - just open the activity in Garmin Connect Web, in the cogwheel menu select the option Trim Activity, change the mode from Time to Distance, and trim it at 0.3 km (that is about the starting distance, the day you really did the ride). That's all.

Of course, you can also zoom on the graph and find out the exact time, when it is needed to trim, and use the Time mode for the triming instead of Distance, but the principle is the same - simply remove the 5 days the bike stayed in your garage.

You are my hero for today. Thank you. I'll be over on the stool wearing the dunce cap. ;)

That's fine, but now imagine how the bike felt all those long 5 days waiting for you in the dark to finally go on the started ride!

I also have a file that does not want to be fixed :( Anybody knows what is wrong with this one?

It's 177km and the battery was running low, so I think that caused the problem2020-05-14-14-10-48.fit.zip

    hi,

    Edge820 and battery problem Wink

recording to your fit file ended abruptly without properly closing the file...no extra data present in your file

your file can be structural repaired with Fit File Tools's section remover (without removing)
