Custom Workout Options

The idea of a custom workout means that it should be custom to the person creating the workout. Whether I'm using the Garmin Connect website or the App, the options within the Create Custom Workout are severely limited. While the design of this page works as originally intended, it doesn't meet today's workout routines. If I wanted a running workout, I wouldn't need a custom workout, as I would just create one of those. And the same goes for the Strength, Cardio, Bike, or Pool Swim. However, each of these areas have the ability to create workouts specific to those environments, but if I'm at a Gym with each of those options, I can't create a custom workout to include those options. Meaning that if I have a 20 min treadmill warm-up, and then go do 3x25 sit-ups, and then 3x25 lateral pull downs, and I want 2 minutes of transition time between locations, no one can create that, and instead have to record the individual exercises.

As it can be seen in the attached image, I've created a sample of a custom workout with most of the available options. This does not have any equipment identified, or anything else that identifies what the workout is supposed to achieve. Sure, you can specify heart rate or time targets, but you have to use one of the other options to actually specify any type of actual workout.

So please, integrate the other workout options into the Custom Workout creation tool to make it more robust and actually allow us to make custom workouts to meet our needs. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1457348.jpg
  • Cancermars sounds a sensible idea - perhaps it could be implemented by Garmin by allowing a workout to be pulled together from components so that you drag them into a master workout and put appropriate rest/recovery between. This type of function would be useful for Triathon training too where you want a swim/bike/run workout all as one not just 3 separate activities
  • JSRUNNER_ Exactly! Many trainers today are integrating strength, cardio, and whatever else they have available to them to increase the success rates of their clients. For example, my trainer has me going from a stair stepper to the treadmill, followed by TRX straps, and then onto weights. While my VivoActive3 can record the individual exercises, I have to carry around a sheet of paper with my workout on it, when I should just be able to look at my screen. This is really a matter of cutting and pasting the specific code from the targeted pages and integrating them into the Custom Workout page.
