use connect for software update only (no activity upload)

Hi there, there ist someone who wants to update a forerunner 30 regarding software and sattelite position, but all that without uploading activities from the fr to garmin connect. Is there a way to do so. Can the automatical activity upload somehow be turned off?
  • Not as such, but I am in Europe and can "revoke consent for uploading" in the mobile app. Settings -> Profile and privacy -> Data -> Data Upload -> "Do you want to revoke your upload consent?" Not sure if the same option is offered to non-EU regions though.

Before 2016 there was a much better arrangement, you could set upload on or off per device. It is not only a privacy/preference issue, in the absence of a good quality mobile data connection the constant upload/sync attempts drain a phone's battery. Being able to control if and when to sync solves that.

yeah i would definitely prefer to have control regarding which activities I upload (and which not) ...
