Calorie burn doesn't seem accurate...

Hi all,

Just had something a little weird happen & I just want to see if I'm not alone..

I've just completed a 41 minute workout (mix of weight training & rowing on the Ergo) with an average HR of 123BPM but a calorie burn of 76 Cals? Seems incredibly low & way out of Kilter with other similar sessions I've completed?

Any advice / experiences welcome!

  • That doesn't sound right at all. Way too low, even as an estimate. Maybe check you have your Max Heart rate set correctly in Connect? My experience is different; the exercise calories estimate aligns fairly much exactly to what I see when I use a power meter, etc. on the bike.

(The RMR estimate however is nonsense. It completely ignores patterns in your weight and tracked calorie intake so is just a dumb, generic calculation despite having the data available to make it meaningful.)

O nmy Garmin 910XT, calories are always low (typically about 50%) of what Strava shows.

And again tonight... Very frustrating. 60kcal burn for 30 mins of work with an average HR of 141.. Everything is set up correctly
  • Calories measured for anything that is not running, swimming, or biking seem off. On a SUP or a rowing skiff always seem low. I just completed 3.11 miles in 45 minutes on a rowing skiff, and it is saying 167 calories.

  • Check out the parameter Activity Class in your User Settings. It has a great influence on the way Calories are calculated. And then, make sure that the HRM gets good reading. If there are problems with reliable signal on the wrist HRM, use a chest belt instead.
