Vivoactive HR syncing issues

I’ve been having issues for well over a month where my watch can count my steps but not sync any activities to the Garmin server. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Garmin Connect app, toggled the Bluetooth off and on, and paired and synced the watch numerous times but nothing is working.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

This is a user forum. I don't think Garmin people actually come here (except by mistake), so you are not going to get any deep tech support here. Try calling Garmin Support at 800.800.1020.

Having the same problems since yesterday. Can get some data to phone (Not HR or sleep) but nothing uploading to Garmin.
  • I’ve the same problem for several days. Data like steps and flights as well as finished activities download from the watch to my phone correctly. The information on the MyDay screen is updated and correct. But if I tap the steps or flights entries to get details, the screen that pops up has the old data. If I connect the watch to my computer and sync with Garmin Express the info on the phone corrects immediately. Interestingly, the activity data details are correct on Garmin Connect online before syncing with Garmin Express. And the sleep data never shows up anywhere until I sync with Garmin Express. I’m open for suggestions if anyone finds a solution.

  • My issue has been solved. I chatted online with Garmin support, and after an hour of testing and observation, he had me access the file system on my watch via my computer, and delete three folders. Once that was done, the system regenerated those folders and my sync issue seems to be resolved. His assumption was that there was a corrupted file in one of those folders. After I finished the chat, it occurred to me that each time I plugged my watch into my Windows 10 desktop to access Garmin Express it gave me a Windows notification that part of drive J: (the watch) was not accessible and it recommended that Windows try to fix the problem. I ignored that warning, but it may have been an indicator. Or not.
  • Solution was short lived! After working fine for a day and a half, my watch reverted to the same problems I reported in my first post with one glaring exception. In my first post activity recording was working normally. Now I can't record an activity at all. Neither walking or walking indoors will work. I can start either activity as normal. The outdoor activity finds GPS and turns green. I start both activities and the clock runs, heart rate is monitored, and calories are increased. But the distance and number of steps stays at zero no matter how long or how far I walk. When I stop the activity and try to save it the saving wheel turns on the device for 5-8 minutes it normally takes only a few seconds), and then the display returns to a brand new activity screen which has been reset to zero. I am able to back out of that screen if I don't start the activity first. The same thing happens if I choose delete instead of save. The activity is not saved anywhere on the device and of course does not sync to Garmin Connect. The steps are counted on MyDay as are intensity minutes, heart rate and calories, so I can sync those using Garmin Express after which they download to GCM. So I guess sometime in the next day or so I'll return to chat online about this new issue. The activity issue is particularly problematic for someone like me who loves data comparison.
