bluetooth connection keeps droping on xiaomi a1 android pie with fenix 3hr

Hello,

I have Xiaomi Mi A1 and got an android pie update last week and since then the Bluetooth connections keeps dropping a reconnecting. As you can imagine this is very annoying.

I have tried to:

. reset phone and watch
.reinstall the garmin app
.forget and re-add the watch to bluetooth
.clear cache from Bluetooth android process

nothing worked and I see other with similar buetooth issues after pie upgrade.

Thanks,

Adao
  • G'day, I have the same phone and had the same problem with bluetooth (garmin edge 130) when my phone upgraded to pie as well. I did the same things you listed and eventually it worked.

At first the device would try to connect and immediately disconnect/retry. I deleted the device from garmin connect and tried to re-add it, when pairing the device in the garmin connect app it would attempt to connect then immediately say "Pairing failed". Re-installing the app and forget/add the bluetooth device (have it disconnected, go to previously connected devices and "forget" it) eventually worked for me. I'm not sure if it was the order of things I did but it did eventually work.

    Hello,

I've not had any problems pairing and syncing the phone with the watch. My issue is that the watch is constantly connecting and disconnecting from the phone.

In a hour it will repeat this mayble 10/15 times so now I have just switched off the bluetooth of the watch until a fix comes out.

it seems i have found solution:
    Settings->System->Advanced->Reset options->Reset Wi-Fi,mobile&Bluetooth
After that you need re-connect all your bluetooth devices and wifi networks.
Almost 5 hours passed - no one reconnect for me, all work perfect
  • thank you, angebot, now, it's work on my vivoactive3 work with my A1
  • Hi
I have the same problem with the last update from Android 8 to 9 Pie for the Xiaomi A1 and Forerunner 35.
The watch keeps connecting and disconnecting from the bluetooth every 30 seconds.
    It is very annoying.

I did all the steps and nothing worked for me.

Actually, you don't need to re-link the smartwatch in Garmin Connect.

This worked for me with my FR465M and Nokia 7 Plus with latest Android 9.0 Pie update:

    1) On the smartphone, go to Settings => Connected devices => Previously connected devices => Forget the Forerunner device.
    2) On the Forerunner, go to Settings => Phone => Pair Phone.
    3) On the smartphone, go to Settings => Connected devices => Pair new device.
    5) Android will now ask a pin code. The Forerunner shows a 6 digit pin code. Enter the code on your smartphone.

Once the device is connected in Android, open Garmin Connect and it will recognize your device again.

    Hello,

I can confirm that this procedure worked for me.

I just found it strange that the watch does not appear a a paired device but everything works (sync and notifications) without any drop in connection.
  • Wow. Thank you so much. I've given up on it after over a year of trying different solutions.

  • And it stopped agan. Nothing works to fix the connectivity issues...
