How to get rid of badges

Is there any way to get rid of these annoying badges? They might be fine to try to get little kids interested, but they are an annoyance for adults.

  • Why do you look at the badges, if you do not want them? If you stop the badges notifications, and stop looking at the badges, there is no way they could disturb you.

Hey Garmin, Those badges and rewards are so 2010!

  • It is annoying that they occupy real estate on the phone face.  I just got rid of ALL notifications and that took away the problem.

  • Been using Garmin for ages got my first spontaneous badge appear today - why can we not just right click on it and send it to oblivion and opt out altogether for ever? Such a patronizing thing. Also it is in miles for heavens sake - deeply offensive for a cyclist of any nationality. Badges should be opt in for children.

If you mean getting badge notifications on the phone, then you indeed can. In GC Mobile Menu go to Settings » Notifications » Push Notifications and disbale Badges. I believe you can access it even quicker if you swipe the badeg notification to the side, and tap the cogwhell, but I cannot test it, since I have no such notification active right now.

If you are getting some badges on the watch face, then it is certainly possible to disable too, but it may depend on the model you own - you best post to the forum dedicated to your device. I get nothing like that on my Instinct.

We live in strange times. People are offended by everything. You must not mention skin tan, gender, religion, politics, and now even measurment units without offending half of the population. Seems to me people have too little true troubles, so they have to invent substitute ones.

  • Thanks

I don't ever look on phone  so the lengthy procedure you describe is not relevant to me I just want to right click and delete for ever from the desktop.

The 'offence' is light hearted (albeit true)  in the context of a sports app not deep political debate.  However, even in the US races the commentators say "10 km to go" or whatever.  And let's face it it - it is a meaningless and moribund way to describe linear measurement that relates to absolutely nothing other than obsolete custom.

You can do it too, but I guess it will be also too lengthy and difficult for you:

Click the cogwheel symbol on the pane with the badges, and select Remove. You won't see the offenders anymore, and you will hopefully finally start enjoying the life without any harrasing badges.

  • Thanks very much I'll try it.

There is a generation of people out there who primarily use phones to speak to people on and some of us continue take part in competitive sport and sometimes - albeit they do it for the joy, since 1966 in my case - win real prizes (that need to be dusted) either in age categorised competition or, after years of service, recognition by their peers.  Some are more savvy but many know just about enough to get our data from our (generally very basic) devices to computers with screens big enough to see stuff on and, perhaps even more so, keys big enough to hit first time.

    Thanks again for your indulgence.

  • The only place I found it on the desktop was on the settings profile page where there are a number of checkboxes.  the one for badges had been checked.  I unchecked it and will have to see if that prevents future badges from appearing.  I still haven't found a way to remove a badge from an existing page, but that doesn't really matter much.

I think that seeing a Trick or Treat badge was just childish enough for me to finally try to find a way to get rid of them.  There was no "cogwheel symbol on the pane with the badges."

Not sure what pane you reffer to. If you post a screenshot of that page, perhaps I can help you better .
