Not updating personal records

I have same issue related to the garmin segments. The segments on the device do not update the personal records so are pointless. I am referring to the edge 530 device. 

There is no direct relation between segments and personal records. Personal records update when you do a new activity with a better performance than the previous PR for given distance. It does not matter whether the activity contains a segment or not. However, you have to approve (or reject) the new PR. In Garmin Connect Web you can do it on the page Personal Records.

I was referring to segments in my post. I have segments which I have beaten but the segment best time hasn't updated.

OK, so that has nothing to do with Personal Records. Would be better to post the issue in a corresponding thread, not to mix two different topics. As for the segments: does the activity show a passage trought the segment or not? If not, then the GPS track did not much exactly the segment. And are you speaking about segments you created yourself, or about public segments? If it is a public segment, then your activity's privacy has to be set to "Everyone", otherwise your result cannot be ranked.

I disagree I don't see how the functionality is any different we are talking about devices updating automatically based on a performance. Whether that's against a segment or a distance or a time it's the same thing. On your segment questions yes it matches since it does record the result just not as a PB and I'm not talking about leader boards I'm trying to capture my own PB. If anyone else has seen this issue please let me know.

You may disagree, of course, but it won't change anything on the fact that the page Personal Records lists only records for selected distances or feats. In the case of Cycling it is 40km, Elevation Gain, Max Avg Power (20 min), and Farthest. It won't list any Segment records. Segments are a completely different feature than the Personal Records discussed here.

If you want to see your best performance on a Segment, click the Leaderboard, and select the option Me Only.

6722625 - Having the same problem with the Edge 530, and totally agree.  Doesn't matter what is being updated, you'd have thought a Garmin would do it automatically and not require you to select your own PB.  

I have a segment that I set a PB on a few months ago which the PB automatically set to.  However, this week I've beaten that PB 4 times and by a good margin (wind obviously in my favour), but it's not updating with the new PB.  

Trux, I think you miss the point.  The edge displays your PB while you're doing the segment to give you an idea whether you are beating it or falling behind.  Looking at the Leaderboard after the ride is a different thing.

Yes, I think I do not understand at all what you are complaing about. This is a forum for the Garmin Connect Web interface, and in Garmin Connect Web, AFAIK, the page Personal Records does not list any sector PB's. It only lists records for pre-defined disciplines (40km, Elevation Gain, Max Avg Power 20 min, and Farthest - for cycling). Personal bests for sectors are listed on each respective sector page separately, on the leaderboard with the filter "Me Only".

Are you telling that in your case, the Personal Records page on Garmin Connect Web lists also all sector records? Or are you rather complaining that Edge does not list the PB's correctly? If you meant the Edge not updating the records, then you better post it on the Edge forum, since in such case there is no relation to Garmin Connect Web.
