Training status separated to new device and predecessor after replacement

Hello,

may I raise a topic for which I didn't found a solution yet.

I am using a Fenix 5x which have been replaced by Garmin a couple of days ago. The watch have been registered with Connect, Connect Mobile and Express. The previous one have been removed and does not appear any more in the registered devices.

However, in the Report section "Training Status" I have now two devices for selection, the replaced Fenix 5x and so-called "Other 2". The data are shown for the Fenix since I have registered it, and for the "Other 2" as for its predecessor until I have stopped its usage. But the data are not shown as one single graph, I have to switch between both devices.

Is it possible to join the data of both devices, that they are shown jointly in Connect?
Where can I remove any left registration of the predecessor that the selection knob disappears.

Has anybody the same problem?
Thanks for your help.
  • Does it go away after some time? I have the same problem now...

  • why is this? I use two devices, but I am the same person, hence training status should be combined.

  • I have exactly the same problem: already having my 3rd Edge1030 because of major outage already after 3 month of usage (which is a BIG SHAME for what should be the flagship of the Garmin cycling GPS devices). Training Status is and remains separated for each of 3 Edge1030s I have used up until now. Furthermore uploaded data from another non-Garmin heart rate monitor which I used awaiting the replacement of the broken Garmin 1030s (in total 3.5 months in 10 months time after the 1st usage of the 1030)  are not taken into account at all!

I fully agree with the other athletes: it's the athlete who does the training, not the device!

When is Garmin finally coming to sense and delivers a proper Training Status facility instead of this totally useless figure?

Good question, but not the best place to ask. Users of this forum cannot answer, and it is doubtfull whether any of Garmin employee will ever spot your demand here. You better speak to the Garmin support, and demand them the change. There is a chance for the change only if there is a huge number of people asking them directly the same feature repeatedly.

  • I'm sorry trux but this is the only place to bring this up. As you can see this is a response to an answer of a Garmin employee and even more: when i contacted Garmin support whit this and many more questions and suggestions they directed me to this forum!

so if Garmin would not use the questions, answers and remarks posted on their own forum they would be even more stupid and customer-unfriendly they already make themselves look in the response on this particular issue of the Training Status.

  • They've sent you here to get rid of you, so that you can be quietly ignored when you complain here, on the user forum. Unless their support starts to be overwhelmed with the same request again and again, and it raises some kind of alarms in their support stats, causing them significant losses in the time they spend on answering these requests, it is unlikely they'll be motivated enough to do anything about it.

  • Hi trux, then you should not reply to my post 'cause i got this response to go to the forum from garmin on an email i sent to garmin support with these and other remarks so i've done my share of 'spamming' them already (just as a couple of fellow athletes of mine did also with absolutely ZERO effect)

  • Hi trux, then you should not reply to my post

OK, sorry for my useless comment. Just go on here and hope it helps.

  • You couldn't be more right: if this is how it actually works it's a massive design flaw.

Looking at it from the marketing standpoint it doesn't make any sense either: Garmin wants users to buy as many devices as possible yet the user doesn't seem to have any benefit because the devices don't sync up... what's keeping me from buying a devices from any other brand on the market?

In my case I have a Fenix 5X which I use pretty much always, except when I'm on the bike. On the bike I use an Edge 1030. Now in my case my activity's are mostly cycling but in a scenario where I do a lot of swimming or something in a week this should be taken into account imo...

Either way, as it stand, the least that can be done is having a way to set your default device in the Garmin Connect app for training metrics. Right now my app defaults to the training status from my Fenix 5X on the home screen which is pretty much irrelevant, I want the training status form my Edge 1030 to show up.

  • Well I also found this when I upgraded to a new device after just about two weeks FR245m -> FR 945.

So no news about this at all?
it’s strange how Garmin have done this? Right?

I have seen Garmin employees here in other threads.

Maybe they see this as well?
