Training Calendar Widget

I think it would be super helpful if there were a training calendar widget, similar to the Garmin Coach widget. It takes at least 6 button pushes to get to your training calendar, depending on what activity you used last. For me it was strength training; Start-> hold menu -> down -> start -> down -> start) to get to your training calendar.

When I used Garmin Coach, I set it to be the first widget that comes up by pushing the down button. One button push and you know what you have on your schedule.

bump for a Training Calendar Widget!!!
  • At least they should make less redundant steps.

Right now, if I want to do a Strength workout which is in my training calendar, I have to do this:
    • Open the Strength app.
    • I now have to choose a workout from a list - not the calendar's list, but a list of all strength workouts I have earlier downloaded.
    • After choosing a workout, I get to a screen where I can enter the menus using the Up button and then select the training calendar.
    • In the training calendar, I can now select today's strength workout. Which will cancel my choice from step 2 above. So step 2 was clearly redundant.
If I want to do a Run workout, there is also redundancy, but in a different way - which means that there is also inconsistency:
    • Open the Run app.
    • Select the training calendar.
    • In the training calendar, I can now select today's run workout.
    • Now I am asked which app I want to use for this workout. Well... erhh... I am in the run app, right? Could we please use that? No, I have to scroll through a list of apps and choose Run once again. Which will cancel my choice from step 1 above. So step 1 was clearly redundant.
  • The process is very smooth. Select Run activity. I am then informed that I have a workout scheduled for today. I select that then Do Workout.
  • Trippy, is this a run activity that you have put into the calendar yourself in Garmin Connect, or was it part of a training plan, for example Garmin Coach?

I only see this "auto suggestion" for activities from Garmin Coach. Not for my own activities.

Next question: You don't experience step 4 from my description? I have to select between all the different run apps after accepting to do a workout from Garmin Coach.
  • It is nothing to do with Garmin Coach, or a Training Plan. Create Run type workout. Add to Garmin Calendar for today. Send Calendar to device. Sync. On device press Start, Select Run. It then says I have a workout for today. Very simple. After confirming workout I do not have to select Run again.
  • You are probably right about runs done on the correct day. Coming to think of it, I have probably only seen the behaviour I describe when I want to go into the calendar on the watch to do tomorrow's activity today. Which still doesn't explain why I have to choose Run once again in that situation.

But now try the same for a Strength workout. You will notice that in my step 2 you get a list of all Strength workouts that the watch knows about, no matter if one of them was actually planned for today or not.
  • If you are doing the same activity over and over (Run only) this really isn't a huge deal. But I started a Garmin triathlon training plan and I would like one button access for what I need to do for the day. If we could get a Training Calender widget that emulates the Garmin Coach Widget, that would be ideal.

For a product that promotes exercise and training, this functionality should already exist.
