How to change device registered to Garmin Connect

When I access Garmin Connect via the App and go to the ‘More’ menu (bottom right) then to ‘Devices’ and old device no longer used is registered to Garmin Connect. How do I delete it and add my new Fenix5X?
  • GavinWolfe You have no need to remove the device in order to add another one . From the main My Day page tap on the device Icon at the top of the screen

That takes you into the devices page

You should have an Add Device option at the bottom so tap that and use it to add your new device

To remove your existing one tap on the line for it then using the 3 dots menu at top right of screen - you have the "remove device" option - but as I have said no need to remove it if you want to keep it as a backup device and use it occasionally.

Has this changed recently? I just bought a new Forerunner 35 today and when I tried to upload the first data, Garmin Connect told me that I have to register the device first. I looked around and found the device page, but there I find only options to remove or sort out the existing device, no option to add a new device.

According to the support pages I can register new devices either with Garmin Express or with an Mobile App. Unfortunately I have no mobile phone and no Windows PC. I don't remember how I registered my Fenix 3 in August 2016 but it must have worked somehow without mobile phone and without Windows.
  • no Windows PC

Do you have a Mac? Garmin Express works on Windows and MacOS.

How did you set up you F35 initially? Clearly if you had access to Garmin Connect you then had access to a computer? AFAIK you need access to a computer or a phone to initially set up your device and register it to your Garmin Connect account.

While the process has undoubtedly changed over the years, there has always been a need to do this at the very least with a computer - if memory serves me right.
  • If you want to remove an old device from your profile that is no longer yours or no longer in use you can head to garmin.com, sign into your account, and then click products. Next to each registered device you'll see a "remove" link. There is little need to actually do this, but I thought i'd share the process. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1465628.jpg

    No, I don't have a Mac either.

My F35 is new (bought it yesterday). My first Garmin watch was a Forerunner 210 and I think that I started the connect-Account when I bought that watch but I didn't use the connect-account very much, because I preferred to keep my data at the local computer (using Turtle Sport). Then, in 2018 I bought a Fenix 3 and I needed the connect-account to keep track of the "health" data (steps, average heart-rate etc.). I don't remember how I registered the Fenix 3 - maybe I used the Garmin Express that a former colleague had installed on his office computer. The funny thing is that I can upload activities from my F 35 (and the Website recognizes it as F 35) but I can't upload files from the Monitor folder.

I just asked here, because I read in #2

and I can't see this option in my Garmin Connect account.

There is an option to remove the Fenix 3 HR but I still hope that it can be repaired. (Stopped working on Sunday- But that would be another topic.)
