Can i send a planned workout to a group ?

Can i send a planned workout to a group ?
  • Unfortunately not. Workouts do not have any permissions and are restricted to only your account.
  • This is not super ideal, but you could:

    1) Send workout to your device
    2) Sync
    3) Connect device to PC with cable
    4) Find the latest .FIT file under the \GARMIN\WORKOUTS\ folder
    5) Send that to your group and ask them to copy it to \GARMIN\\NEWFILES\ on their watch by connecting the cable
(Edit: if that doesn't work, they have to copy it to \GARMIN\WORKOUTS\)

Unfortunately I don't think there's a simpler way. I also think this only works with normal workouts, not scheduled workouts on your calendar.
  • Thanks but I'm waiting for a new release
  • Yeah, I realize it's not ideal. I guess you could join Training Peaks, which lets you share workouts with their phone app. They also have a Connect IQ app for watches, which lets you sync workouts from the phone app to the watch, wirelessly. I havne't tried it tho.

That should probably accomplish what you want to do, but I don't think it's free.

TrippyZ guironi I looked and there was a free way to do this with a Chrome app (for PC/Mac), but it doesn't work anymore :(

I think it's more likely that the dev of this app will fix it before Garmin adds the functionality you want:

  • I was just asking myself this 10 minutes before. I created several MB Workouts on GCM and would like to send them to my wife too. So, +1 for sending Workouts to Friends.
  • Thanks , TP is the best coaching software, but it's too expensive for me .
  • Like stated above, you can send your calendar or workouts to your watch. After the workouts have synced, but before you disconnect the watch, go into the Garmin/Newfiles folder and you can just copy out those files. Send the files to whoever you want and they can just place the files into their Garmin/Newfiles folder. When they unplug the watch from their computer it will automatically put the workouts where they belong.

Garmin is not very likely to bring back the ability to share workouts, as much as I wish they would.
  • Yeah, I think it would be very easy for a dev to write an app to sync workouts from GC to your watch (or through a companion app), but I'm guessing Garmin will not allow that. It's also probably not a coincidence that Chrome app doesn't work anymore.

Here's a way to download your workout FIT file directly from the GC website, although your friends will still have to use a cable to sync the workout. At least it eliminates most of the pain for the person sending the workout....

    Initial setup:
    1) Bookmark any site at all
    2) Edit the bookmark: call it "Download FIT workout" (or whatever) and paste the code at the following link into the URL/address field:
    https://pastebin.com/1TafpUr1

Whenever you want to share a workout
    1) Go to Garmin Connect
    2) Navigate to the workout you want to share
30 Click on the bookmarklet and the workout FIT will automatically download (if it doesn't work, make sure Chrome or whatever browser you use is not blocking downloads)

  • I would like to share the workouts I created to other people... a button in GC that says "send to ..." with the list of my GC friends
