How to import data from other services into Garmin Connect?

I'm a legacy user of Map My Run since 2009. In 2015 I bought a Garmin watch and started using Garmin Connect, which continues to push workouts back to Map My Run. In November 2016 I started using Strava as part of a running team. Now, my Garmin Connect account pushes to both Strava and Map My Run.

I'm now faced with the challenge of getting out of Map My Run and consolidating my data. I've done the work of getting all my historical data into Strava, give or take. But I'm having trouble getting these workouts into Garmin Connect. It seems a few years ago Garmin limited the ability of automated software to synchronize as a DESTINATION. Has anyone cracked this nut yet? Or am I stuck manually importing workout files from Map My Run / Strava into Garmin if I want everything to match? Ugh.
  • Much easier to export out of Garmin Connect vs importing into Garmin Connect. If I recall correctly, users faced with this were able to get assistance from Garmin support, but that may have been years ago. Might be worth a try.
  • For strava to Garmin, try https://tapiriik.com/ which works with most services.

For MapMyRun to Garmin, try https://www.fitnesssyncer.com/
  • , you're correct. I forgot about FitnessSyncer. In fact, I'm using it. Quietly doing its job syncing several apps.

  • sadly , garmin connect can no longer be used as destination on FitnessSyncer, if anyone has an up to date Idea, due let me know.

  • Any luck with this?  I just got a Fenix 6S for Christmas, and it pushes my runs from Garmin to MapMyRun just fine... however... trying to get my past runs from MapMyRun into my new Garmin account is proving extremely difficult.  Super frustrated/disappointed at this point.  I've tried downloading the data from MapMyRun as a csv file and as a gpx file - Garmin won't recognize either.  Surely there's a way to push old runs into the Garmin account?  Help?!

  • nope, no luck. I just gave up. I think it might work with a third app like strava. then you will need to export to strava and then sync strava with garmin. however I didn't try this so I can't tell you for sure. if you try and it works let know :) enjoy the holiday

  • I finally managed to transfer all my Polar data (workouts) to Garmin Connect via web import. You might use this instructions for other purposes also.
    - Download all the Polar data (support.polar.com/.../how-to-download-all-your-data-from-polar-flow) - unzip -> json files (I had about 3000)
Convert from json to .fit using a web tool https://www.tredict.com/polarjson2fit-converter/. Unzip files.
    - Import from Garmin connect web (connect.garmin.com/.../import-data) in baches like 150-200 in one time. If the page is not responding you have reduce the amount of files. This goes pretty fast.

1st I tried using the Andrid app SyncMuTracks but it always failed after a while. To my understanding you have to sync also in smaller patches like define import/export settings 1-2 months it might work. I did managed to sync many workouts to Garmin connect via this tool so I in order to avoid dublicates (with the import) I needed to remove some converted tif files from my computer (easy to see the dates).

I also tries coping the the .fit-files to Fenix 6 x pro Activities folder which took ages (better to transfer files to this mass stage in small paches like 300-400) and did not show anywhere. Instead when using Garmin Express PC tool it started to sync something for ages and needed to kill the program.

  • I haven't been able to import waypoints into Garmin Connect. Only routes and tracks. The waypoints don't make it in.

  •   Thank you so much! I'm currently transferring 2057 activities from Polar Flow and uploading it following your instructions Blush

NB: the third link (import from Garmin Connect Web) doesn't work, we have to click on the cloud and arrow link on the top right of the Garmin Connect web page.

  • Can you repost the links that worked for you?

was there a template that could be used with other files?
