[BUG] Activities list: unsorted and sorted (descending) columns look the same

In the activities list, it's impossible to tell the difference between a column that is sorted in descending order and an unsorted column (which has the ability to be sorted), without looking at the contents and guessing.

- Columns which are not sortable have no arrow beside them
- A column which is sorted in ascending order has a solid up arrow beside it
- A column which is sorted in decending order has a solid down arrow beside it
- A sortable column has a solid down arrow beside it

I understand there is a need to distinguish non-sortable columns from sortable columns. Maybe use a chevron for sortable columns?
e.g.

Or even the old-timey method of underlining the column title to show that it is a link (although I can understand why no one would want to do this). Anything that's not ambiguous would be better.

Also, the current scheme is not consistent across GC. For example, in the Reports > Progress Summary view, if you group by week, all the columns are sortable, but there is no visual indication....
  • So sorting actually works now? When did they fix that?
  • AllanOlesen67 Not sure if you’re being facetious, but you have to select an activity type like running or cycling to get sortable columns. The All and Favorites views are not sortable, probably because some of the columns (like speed/pace) have mixed data when different types of activities are displayed together (like Strength and Running).

If you really want to sort the All or Favorites views, I can point you to a trick for doing it....

Also, since I can’t edit the OP I’ll just clarify that columns which are unsortable actually have hidden titles (probably because some columns may have mixed data in the All and Favorites views, which are the only unsortable views), so technically there’s already a way to distinguish unsortable columns from unsorted columns without resorting to putting an ambiguous down arrow beside the title. While I still see the advantage of highlighting that columns are sortable, the current scheme is still ambiguous and inconsistent with the rest of GC.
  • Yes, I am being facetious. Not towards you, but towards Garmin. The sort function has been defective for a long time. Clicking the arrows would just cause everything to be sorted randomly. This is the first time I hear that it has been fixed.
  • AllanOlesen67 okay cool that was my first gut reaction, but then I also considered that most people find it very confusing that columns aren’t sortable or customizable in the default view, and it’s not obvious that selecting a sport will change that. There’ve been so many bugs that I forgot it was ever broken, but it works pretty well now.
