Speaking of having activities deleted unintentionally, has anyone suggested a more complicated delete process to garmin in order to remedy this with their next software update? Both times I've had this…
First, make sure your activity is not actually on the watch. Connect the watch using a usb cable to your computer and open the associated \Garmin drive from Windows file explorer or the finder app on a…
This should work for you - 1537._11D2810-fixed.zip
There was 1 trackpoint with "unexpected big change of distance value." Repaired using Fit File Repair Tool.
Unzip the file then import into Garmin Connect using the import data page. The recovered file is a point-to-point and not an out-and-back. Hopefully not missing the return route.
Wow, you're so fast !
It is all ok, thank you so much !
There is no return route since I was pausing the activity and my watch discarded the activity (probably due to touch screen).
The .FIT file starts with a _ unlike the other properly recorded activities is the folder structures.
It doesn't matter, as long is it has the .fit extension. A recovered fit file typically will not be accepted by Garmin because the file is corrupt. Can you zip then attach the file to a reply post? We can take a look and attempt to repair it.

Thanks for the response. I saw your thread after I posted yesterday and fixed the file in the fit repair tool so all sorted thanks.
Cheers for the info on the thread!
Hi seilogramp,
Any chance you could try and fix this .fit file for me. Had the same problem and deleted the file, just recovered it and it is corrupted.
Thanks!
Do you know what the distance, lapsed time, date/time should be? I might be able to piece it together. The way it is now, the corruption is coming from the timestamps having a few different dates/times and throwing everything out of whack.
The activity should have been from the 29/4/21 from about 16:50 to 17:50.
It was about a 13km run in ~57mins.
thanks for having a look!
According to Fit File Repair Tool.
12082 bytes of the file are corrupted and could not be repaired.
Unfortunately I could only recover a small portion of this and had to split into 2 runs. 1 run around the Melbourne Cricket Ground and 1 along Safety Beach. There was no other valid GPS data.
Anyone able to fix this fit file? Lost a run this morning and am trying to recover it. Thanks in advance!
