I have just received a new Fenix 5 from online retailer. Conncted to Garmin express however it states that garmin servers are unavailable and will go no further. Garmin connect is up to date and works with other garmin devices. No probs with internet connection / proxy etc. Watch softeare is at 3.4 so probably never updated.
Try to connect to mobile app.Watch initially pairs however will not complete setup. Not a bluetooth problem on iphone. Looking at sync reports on the app states that the watch could not be set up because it does not have a valid id.
Contact Garmin support explain situation and give them the Unit ID and also serial number from back of the watch. They say they cant find it on their system and offer no further advice.
I find this very strange. Watch is genuine bought from reputable dealer and works in every other way. My thought is its a problem with Garmins backend or somewhere along the line the watch was not put on Garmins system whoever is responsible for doing that.
Has any one else had this problem? can only find a couple of other reports which seemed to have no resolution.
