Workout 'notes' no longer appearing in published calendar on Google

I'm using a Garmin Training Plan, and have published my calendar so I can access it via Google Calendar. In the past, when viewing an activity on Google, I've been able to see the workout notes (as shown within Garmin Connect). That function seems to have disappeared, and I can only see the workout title, which isn't very useful - I have to login in to Garmin Connect every time I want to see the detail of that day's workout.

I suspect this might be to do with Google and their recent update to Google Calendar, but anyone know of a way to fix it?

I don't think this has any connection to Google's update. Their API hasn't changed in the last year, even if the visual design changed.

I also noticed there was no notes or instructions for the workout and it's a huge pain. I have to check on my phone or on the web to see what the planned distance is for a workout instead of just looking at my calendar as I plan my day. I feel like this is a known issue by Garmin, but it hasn't hit some priority threshold. Really wish I could see the workout details in the published calendar; as a user, it would increase my trust in Garmin helping me use the data they collect and not just hoarding it or holding it ransom.
