920XT - Activity tracker not syncing

Hey guys, I know this is a topic that has a few threads, but I don't totally fit into any of those.
Over arching is that my activity tracking (steps, sleep, etc) does not sync when I upload my watch.
I typically use the usb cradle on my PC to sync at the end of the day. All my rides, runs, and swims seem to be fine. But I am always at zero steps.
It hasn't sync'd my steps since May 30th
(There is a weird twist to this one. Basically I left for San Francisco on June 1st. I did Escape from Alcatraz. I didn't take anything to upload my watch and was itching to look at the data, so I used the Garmin Mobile with my tablet to get it uploaded. I didn't realize I had a "dormant" GC account that I hadn't used since 2011. Somehow I synced the race and all of the steps around San Francisco during the trip to that dormant account. Once I got back and started using the PC and cradle, I never saw steps again) Does that make sense?

But ultimately I've done a lot of what I believe to be recommended.
I've removed and re-added the device to GC.
I've turned activity tracking off and on.
I've did the master reset causing me to lose everything on the watch.......

Nothing seems to be working. I sent an email to Garmin, but waiting 3-5 days seems ridiculous. Just wondering if anyone had other ideas on what might be going on?
  • Is Activity Tracking enabled in Garmin Connect? Top right corner - Device settings. Activity Tracking.

  • Yes. It is enabled on both GC and the watch.
  • Then perhaps you are syncing to the wrong account. Can you check Garmin Express and see where your activities are going?

    In Garmin Express click on your device, go to Tools & Content >> Garmin Connect
    Do the same in Garmin Connect mobile. Both should be going to the same Garmin Connect account.
  • Yeah, I've done that. And actually removed Garmin Mobile from my tablet. I don't use it. I did in a pinch in San Francisco and I regret it now.
    In Garmin Express it is going to the correct account.

    I've been checking both accounts now. Nothing has gone into that "dormant" account since San Francisco. No activity, no steps, nothing.
    Everything is going to my current account, except steps, sleep, etc.

    Example. I did a 5 mile run on Tuesday. Uploaded the watch with the cradle. It's in the correct garmin connect account. Distance, maps, time, all of those metrics. But zero steps?
    The step count shows on my watch face, etc.
  • What software version are you on? On your watch go to Settings >> System >> About. Should be Software Version 9.80. If not - Software Update 9.80 Now Available! Phased Roll Out 50% That update included fixing some issues with steps on the 920XT.
  • Yeah. I've updated the software. I'm at 9.80.
  • Did this ever get resolved. I am having the same problem with my VivoActive HR.
