OLD personal records overwritten with new SLOWER values

I haven't used Connect or any other Garmin device in 3-ish years, and while all my old activities are still in Connect, my Personal Records are being set to recent runs which are MUCH slower (I'm getting old). I looked back at a couple of races from 2015 and the splits clearly show a 1K pace much faster than what being set as a personal best from this week.

Any thoughts? Is there a way to get Connect to re-scan all activities and populate Personal Records from all available data?

  • Looking closer at this, Connect has my 5K, 10K, and 1/2 Marathon personal records as accurate. Just not the 1K and 1M.\
Any thoughts why it would get my 5K record but not the 1K record within it?
Any way to override the personal bests?
  • You can override by going to the Activity in GC web then using the Cog in the top-right and selecting Set As PR. Are you still using the same device as three years ago?

No I was using the Forerunner 305 back then. Now I have the 735XT.
I can see that option at the Activity level, but I don't think it's possible for a split within it. If I choose a good 5K run, I can't select a 1K split as my PB 1K.
  • You can try exporting the activity as a FIT file, deleting and then uploading it again. It may then scan and find your record within.

Additionally, the two times I have replaced my running device in the past four years, I always Send the Personal Records from GC web to the device so it knows when there is a new real PR.
