Hello,
I looked around and found answers that yes it is common to have a higher than usual HR (for a known effort) when it is hot out, but I couldn't find if it is common for perceived effort to feel easier than normal while having a higher hr.
Garmin connect has my zone 5 being anything over 168bpm - I haven't adjusted it. Usually I have to put in a solid effort to get into zone 5 and holding it there is uncomfortable, but today (over 100F and i had to be over dressed for sun protection) I was able to get into zone 5 no problem and holding it there for 3 miles wasn't comfortable but also wasn't that uncomfortable either. I took rest days for the last two days so Id say I was fully rested.
this workout is on a kayak and I have no way to measure power and speed varies too much from wind and current to tell if it was "typical" for that effort.
(I just got new wireless headphones and used them for the first time today so I'm wondering if maybe they are interfering but my guess is no).
so is it normal when your hr is higher from heat for the perceived effort to feel like what it normally would 10-15 beats lower?
Thanks!
