First 10K time not recognized as PR

Today I completed my first >10K run, 10.19km. In Garmin Connect this run is now shown as the farthest in the PR section, but the 10K PR is still empty. Why isn't this run recognized as a 10k PR?
  • A Forerunner 235. Everything is synched.
  • Did your FR235 tell you, upon completing and saving that timed running activity, that you achieved a new personal record for 10K? You should be able to review the PRs that are on your watch independently of what is in Garmin Connect. Given that the total distance of 10.19km is significantly greater than 10.00km, Garmin Connect would not recognise the activity as one to be evaluated for whether you have achieved a PR for 10K, but it would accept a new 10K PR (achieved during any part of the timed activity) if your watch told it so.
  • No, I don't recall that the watch told me it was a new PR. Maybe the cause of this is because I didn't do a 'normal' running activity? I used the dwmap IQ app to follow a route, and started the activity from dwmap. That works fine normally, and the activity is synched to GC. Could this be the cause that a PR is not recognized? That would be weird.

If so, is there a way to manually enter a PR in GC?

    Yes.

If the activity is stored in Garmin Connect as a run then yes. In Garmin Connect click the activity to enter the activity view. Click the cogwheel symbol in the upper right corner and select "Set as PR".
  • Ok, that explains it, but it's still weird and unfortunate...

I've now set the whole activity as a PR for 10K, but it now shows that my PR is equal to the entire activity duration. Where the activty is 10,19k, the 10K PR is now effectively for 10,19K as well. Too bad! I guess there's no way to correct this?

On the bright side, my next 10K attempt will probably beat this PR anyway :)
  • I guess there's no way to correct this?

Correct. There is no easy way to correct this.

You can overwrite it with whatever time you want. Just don't expect Garmin Connect to actually review your run and identify the fastest 10km stretch within that run (or even the time it took you to complete the first 10.00km).

dwMap records activities using the standard built-in recording feature of the watch, using the chosen activity type. However although the recorded activities go to History on the watch and are sync'ed to Garmin Connect by the watch just like any other activity, it may be that the Run app is specifically what creates the "PR" item.
