Intensity Minutes
Former Member
The default goal for intensity minutes is 150, however for the week I ended at 404. I’m looking for the best way to set a goal for intensity minutes. I bike about 5 hours a week and walk/run 3 hours a week. 80% of my workouts are in Lv 1-2 but this week I start adding some sweet spot intervals. Appreciate any help on how to determine a goal.
How about 10 percent more that last week, each week until it becomes unsustainable? That's what I did and it chimes well with fairly standard advice to runners in adding distance.
Two weeks ago, I nearly reached 2.000 intensity minutes. I cannot remember a week, where I didn´t got at least twice the goal. This is way to low, but that´s what the American health council recommends. It is just a Number, like the step-goal. This raises and lowers on your personal results. I´m running 3-4 times a week, which makes it impossible for me to archive it the other days. Both is interesting in the first month, until you understand if and how continuous you could reach the goals, and then they become uninteresting.
Times are over, when I got up from my couch, if only some hundred steps were missing. Garmin seems to understand that and introduced the Badges, which shall motivate again. And they did, until you reached Level 3 and don´t expect ever to come close to Level 4
