Forerunner 235 not recording steps or cadence

My Forerunner 235 has stopped recording steps (displaying a "0" and not dashes, see pic). I ran yesterday and the GPS and heart-rate monitor still work fine, but when I synced data to Garmin Connect my cadence was recorded as a flat line. Is there a way to correct this? I'm afraid the accelerometer might be damaged/broken, but maybe there's a solution that has thus far escaped me. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1357442.jpg
