Garmin Sending Multiple Copies of an Activity to MyFitnessPal

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to report what appears to be a bug. If it is not, can someone please point me in the right direction?

It seems that if I edit an activity in Garmin Connect (ie. fixing the length of a run or changing the exercises listed in a strength training activity) then Garmin will continue to push that activity to MyFitnessPal every time I sync. For example last night my Fenix 5 shorted me 0.25 miles on my run so I corrected the distance in the activity. From that point on, every time I synced my watch I would see another run show up in MyFitnessPal. At one point in the evening I had 7 copies of the same run listed in my diary.

I should also note that it only appears to keep sending the last activity that I have edited. So once I edited the strength training I did after the run, Garmin started sending multiple copies of the strength activity to MFP and stopped sending anymore of the previous run.

I just started noticing this issue a few weeks ago so it appears to be something new. Please let me know if you need any additional information from me, or if I should submit this bug through some official channel.

  • Is this in the MFP Fitness Diary where the multiple workouts show up, which means MFP is doing math with it related to eating goal, and/or the wall post to friend's list about the workout?

Last week I did manual workout create of strength training, and then uploaded 310XT of run which I then corrected.

The MFP run entry never got corrected for calories - I had to manually correct on MFP.
The strength workout came over alright though.

And then I synced my VF3 for the daily activity.

If that daily calorie burn syncs to MFP first, it doesn't get corrected after I manually add or sync in workouts - so I have to do it last. But that I think is screwed up MFP account only accepting 1 sync, then no updates.

So perhaps that is why I don't get updates to workouts - same bug on my account is saving me there.

Is Garmin Connect tracking your daily activity with the Fenix5 also?

Yes, it is in the exercise diary. However, in my case the calorie burn is correct, the activity itself just get's logged multiple times over the remainder of the day. The attached picture shows the activity that was showing up 7 times until I deleted 6 of them. Unfortunately, I didn't take a screenshot when the copies were present. I plan on doing that the next time it happens.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1351895.jpg

I misspoke about editing the activity, apparently it wasn't the cause. Tonight multiple copies of my run were pushed to MFP almost immediately after I finished syncing it. I am attaching 4 screenshots from MFP.

Screenshot 1: Shows a 2nd copy of the run getting pushed to MFP only a few minutes after it was added to Garmin.
Screenshot 2: Shows another 4 copies of the same run getting created in MFP only 2 minutes after that.
Screenshot 3: Shows what my diary looked liked after I deleted the extra activities.
Screenshot 4: Shows another 4 copies getting recreated in MFP only 2 minutes after I finished cleaning up the extra activities.

As usual, now that this behavior has started with a particular activity it has repeated itself over and over and most likely won't stop until today is over. Please help!!!ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1352252.jpg

I have the same issue here, did you find a solution to the problem? Any workaround maybe?

Copying a post I've just made in a similar topic, this worked for me:

So, I think I've fixed this. I was getting multiple copies of every exercise without fail up until yesterday morning, now I've had no copies in 36 hours and the step count adjustment appears to be working normally as well.

Here was what I did, one or all of these things appears to have fixed it.

    1. Unlink MyFitnessPal from in Garmin Connect App.
    2. Go to MFP website, (not the app, it doesn't work from the app), and in the 'APP' section, disconnect GC from MFP.
    3. Uninstall MFP from phone.
    4. Reboot phone.
    5. Re-install MFP and log in.
    6. Uninstall GC.
    7. Reboot phone.
    8. Re-install GC and connect devices.
    9. Link GC to MFP.

And then it worked as it should. I seem to recall more data notices when I installed stuff this time, which makes me wonder if a flag was set wrong somewhere in either MFP or GC before and GC never got the data that MFP already had the activity, hence it kept sending it. Probably a few superfluous steps above, but that's what I did and it worked. Will update if it starts doing it again.
