Step details.

For days I'm trying to sync my daily steps into Garmin connect. I'm using Fitbit and I'm using the download data to upload it into Garmin as instructed. I've even tried a 3rd party app (Endomondo) to sync it automaticaly. But it seems not to register the steps. If I export my data from endomondo (TCX) it will appear in my activities on Garmin, but it won't count the steps I've made.
Even on some days next to the date there is a red clock saying: "Looks like you changed time zones. Your charts will make more sense tomorrow." But it keeps saying it for days. And I've not changed timezones at all!!!!
What can I do???
  • Nobody from the Garmin Admins that can help me with a solution?
  • Is it just me, who finds it very strange that a million dollar company sets up a forum on their own official website, where customers can post there problems about Garmin products, and that there is nobody from Garmin that even takes the effort to respond?

When I look at other postings I see dozens of treads with no response what so ever. So disappointing the see that Garmin does not care about there customers.

It can't be that hard to answer how I can sync my daily steps from either Fitbit or Endomondo into Garmin Connect.

Get a Garmin device or track your steps on the fitbit site

  • On daily basis I'm using a Fitbit Charge 2 to measure my steps at home and work. Just for the looks and the design I like it better than a Garmin Vivosmart. But when I go out running I'm using a Garmin forerunner. And for cycling a Garmin edge. I'm using Garmin connect for years. Even before Fitbit existed. So It's not that strange to ask how to sync all my steps (running and daily steps) all into Garmin connect. Just the answer to get a Garmin device isn't really helping....

If Garmin allows me to upload the fitbit files xls xlsx or csv then why are there no steps visable after uploading?
  • Which data type did you export from FitBit?
  • From Fitibit I can download 2 types, CSV and XLS. Both will not sync my steps. When uploaded there is an activity "other" in my Garmin Connect list. It it has the distance, time, avg speed and calories. But no steps included!

The same activity has been sync with endomondo (incl steps!!). In endomondo I can also download the data. This is a TCX file. And when uploaded into Garmin connect it has the same problem. Everything (distance, speed, time) is visable in Garmin connect, except my steps!
  • The data types are Body, Foods, Activities, Sleep. Which ones are you ticking on the https://www.fitbit.com/export/user/data page?
  • Oh sorry, I misunderstood.
I've tried only activities. And when that didn't work I've tried all 4 at once.
